George W. Bush for President

Al Gore says all the right things, but I don't believe him. Watch how he takes that head-back, double-chin pose as he preaches. I hate it.

It's an election based on pure impression for me. George W. is likeable, the guy next door with the grill. He doesn't have all the answers, he doesn't always say the right things. Sometimes, damn it, he says what's on his mind.

Does this make him a good leader? I don't know. But the President has to deal with people. So impressions count.

Put it this way: between Gore and Bush, who'd you rather have over for dinner?

Vote Yes for this comment

Voting Yes is a vote for Bush.
Voting No is a vote for the Tin Man, Al Gore.

No

G.W. also kept his word to execute an inmate every month, a promise to reduce overpopulation of jails in TX.

Tin Man may be weak, but I would never want a President who believes in killing (even those who have DNA evidence proving - after his death - that he was innocent).

Also, don't even get me started with abortion rights... anyone who is against a woman's right to choose is dangerous. Just my $0.02

Dunno if I'd invite either Gore or Bush over for dinner, but I'll cook for the three Gore daughters any day...

The truth comes out

So now I know the real reason why schaulau is voting for Gore, the man without a heart! ;-P

Well, I knew nothing about the issues before but there's no way anyone would think that the execution of an innocent man was not tragic. After that, it's a matter of faith in the legal system. It's supposed to protect against innocent people getting wrongfully convicted at the cost of letting some guilty men go free. So it's not perfect.

Then there's the issue of capital punishment in general. And the question becomes: Does it benefit society? My view? Sometimes taking a life will save lives. Which is not to say you want to prevent against the crimes being committed in the first place.

If you're against the death penalty then maybe Ralph Nader is your man.

As far as abortion rights are concerned, it's Dick Cheney that you need to be afraid of. Bush and Gore like all recent middle-of-line, fence-straddling Presidential candidates are actually pretty similar during the campaign.

So in the case of abortion, a vote for Gore is a vote AGAINST Cheney.

I don't know any SPECIFICS about issues though.

Still, for me, I'd vote for whoever I saw on David Letterman. Oh, that'd be George W. Bush!

Dinner?

I'd vote for Bush anyday, but as for dinner, are the Gore daughters coming along? Cuz they just might be able to sway me...
