Am I Hot Or Not?

You've all probably heard of Am I Hot Or Not?, but did you know it was generating 7 million page views a day? And it's inspired a whole bunch of imitators, including Am I President Or Not? (sorry, no pictures of Walter Mondale), Monkey, Hot or Not? and Bangable, which has a Top Ten list. Am I Hot? has a rotten meat section. Ugh.

I can't take the truth!!!!

No I hadn't heard of it but I checked it out and I guess I'm generous because the first woman looked okay so I gave her an 8. The crowd says 6.7. The next lady wasn't as "beautiful" but she "looked" like a she might be a cool person so I gave her a 7. The crowd gave her a 1.3!!!! That's after 1477 votes. She's got to be hating life. There's no way I could submit my picture knowing what a dog I am. I couldn't take the rejection of thousands of people!!! Better just to wait for the next one in a million woman that finds me attractive.

On the other hand I generally rate women on my perceived personality bais. So If I perceive or know they are a bitch then they get a 1 (like Whitney Houston I know is a bitch so she gets a 1) Jennifier Love Hewitt would also get low marks. I don't know she is a bitch but she looks very high maintanence to me.

how low can you go?

the lowest score i've seen is a 1.1; but since I only look at the women, I don't know what Allen's rating is...

Misinformed Indiot!

The first comment about there being 7 million pages viewed in november 2000 is absurd. The site was just starting out back then, they didn't make themselves public on tv or anything. So i guess you should stop assuming that and stick to facts. Secondly, that 'WASN'T the first photo rating site out there. There is a site called: http://www.ratemyface.com they started this before anyone, followed on by http://www.BeautyortheBeast.com they are two highly sucessful sites which people are forgetting about, why?
because screwed up yahoo won't allow the viewing of beautyandthebeast in their search and ratemyface have slowed down their advertising. So anyways, these two sites are way better than the crappy hotornot and they do get more impressions than the assumes amount of hotornot.

Trolls on danchan?

There is a link to an article that quotes 7 million page views. Here's another article written by James Hong who started the site. He says it began in early October. He quotes 1.8 million page views after eight days in operation! As for those other two sites, I've never heard of them, but I think something's wrong with the ranking system on RateMyFace because this girl was top-ranked at #5. Her score doesn't match her score on the ranking page.

Stupid Troll Above

Well, that article you had a link to was written on the 5th of 2001. Firstly their main aim was to submit the site to Yahoo or else they wouldnt get many hits. It takes well over 8 days to get your submission accepted into their search engins. I think you haven't done your research on this issue so you should it the books or better yet try searching on the internet for information. Yes his site was registered on the &th of Oct. 2000, but you don't even know of the sites that existed before that one was ever created. So let see. Now we have an ignorant little kid that is trying hard to prove his/her point and leaving all facts out. 1.8 million people or impressions to their site in the first 8 days? Why would you believe this? have you seen his stats for those days? or are you just being the stupid troll again. Run along fairy...

The weblog entry was informational...

...I just put up some links to some articles, but somehow you've taken it personally. Who should I believe? James Hong or you? I don't know of anyone discovering AmIHotOrNot from Yahoo so I doubt that was their "main aim". The popularity of the site was based purely on word of mouth. Are you associated with RateMyFace? If you are, the whole hot or not thing is a dead meme, so hyping it probably won't help. If you aren't, why do you care?
