It's a very Nike day
I went to Mong Kok today intending to buy a real cheap pair of sneakers for
trekking around Sarawak and Sabah in January. But the first store I pass by
I see them. The shoes to replace my decrepit silver Nikes that have been
with me the last year, through raves and parties, jogging on the beach, walking
around town and backpacking through Europe. I thought I would never find a pair
of sneakers that could live up to such a legacy of comfort, durability and silverness.
The Nike
Shox R4 is the heir apparent.
Of course, I can't be trudging through the jungle, swinging from the trees,
battling off bats, chopping down blooming rafflesia, and eating bananas with
Orangutans in those beauties! No way. I need a cheap ass pair of sneakers still.
Then I see the words Gore-Tex across the side of these Nike ACG running shoes
called Air
Dri Goat. I'm a sucker for branding. Gore-Tex equals waterproof in my mind
and I'm going to be visiting Malaysia in the middle of monsoon season. I can
imagine my feet, dry and protected from the rain and all of a sudden cheap
sneakers don't seem worth it. Wrap 'em both up, baby!
