I hate mosquitoes!
I went to the doctor yesterday to get my vaccinations before going to East
Malaysia. It turns out I "only" needed three shots, one for diptheria/tetanus,
one for typhoid fever and one for hepatitis A. In addition, I took home some
high-altitude tablets and super-strong anti-malarial medicine because Sabah
supposedly has a dangerous life-threatening malignant form of malaria. Of course,
1 out of 10 people have "side-effects" from the anti-malarial stuff,
e.g. you get sick and puke.
This is nothing compared to the series of shots I'd have to get if I went to
Africa, according to the doctor. He listed off about five deadly mosquito related
"fevers" endemic to Africa then showed me a map of the regions that
were badly affected. All of Africa was highlighted!
I hate mosquitoes.
I read an article
today about malarial vaccine research but really, I think we should wipe the
buggers out.
Today, I had a fever, probably from all the shots I took, but I popped two
Excedrins (did you know they're acetominaphen, aspirin and caffeine?
Yowza!) and pow!
Fever gone.
