Farmer's Market and LACMA Pictures

Here are some pictures that I took with my Casio Wrist Camera today.

These are taken from the Farmer's Market on 3rd and Fairfax.
From left to right: pig head molded out of ground pork (olives for eyes), Mean Green Motherfucker Hot Sauce, See Jane On Fire (Burn Jane Burn) Hot Sauce, Hot Ass Devil Dust Hot Sauce.

These are from the top floor of the Japanese Pavilion at LACMA, next to Max Palevsky's Temporary Exhibition of his Collection of Japanese Prints.

These are all from the room on the bottom floor of the Japanese Pavilion where they showcase all the ivory miniatures. The last picture in the series, the one to the left, is titled, "The Legendary Tiny Man".

Way Cool!

I wish my cellphone camera was as easy to use.

The problem with my Cell Phone Camera is that it's a pain in the butt to get the pictures off.

The only way to get them off the camera is to e-mail them. That requires about 2 minutes per picutre. Select mail, long-mail, address, e-mail, list, gregg, confirm, backup, attach, photo, confirm, backup, send, wait 30 seconds, repeat.

Plus, you can only attach one photo at a time. (because there's a 6k limit e-mail)

I want a macro so when I take a picture it just gets e-mailed to me, no other input required. Or I want to be able to connect the phone to the computer.

The other annoying problem is it makes a fairly loud sound when you take a picture and although you can adjust every other sound on the phone you can't adjust that one. Ugh!

Maybe the next one ;-p

The watch is pretty cool...

The software takes a minute to install and you just plug in the IR receiver into your serial port (no USB yet...) and put your watch into IR mode and hit upload all. It takes probably 10 minutes to upload all 100 pictures.

The only problem with the watch is after a while in record mode, it goes into a "Wait" mode for 60 seconds (!) where you can't take any pictures. Transfering/storing/converting the pictures just taken?

Very Impressive

I'm impressed by the quality of the pictures! They aren't as bad as I was expecting. But I'll still wait for the COLOR version that is rumored to be coming. Plus, it's supposed to be mobile phone/PDA infrared compatible. Ahhh to dream...

60 Second Delay

Does this mean that you have to wait 60 seconds after you switch to record mode before you can take your first picture, or does this only happen if you leave the watch in record mode and it goes to sleep (or whatever it is doing)?

To me, the latter would be less of a problem as long as you had the ability to basically turn the watch on and snap a picture right away. Otherwise, you might not be able to capture those unexpectedly candid blackmail-worthy moments.

Is there any way to perform firmware upgrades/fixes on the Wrist Cam? I used to have a Kodak camera that had an annoying habit of shutting off after 30 seconds or so even though it was on a tripod connected to an AC adapter, handily wiping out any exposure settings, etc...very irritating if you are trying to do a large amount of product photography!! Luckily, I found a firmware hack that disabled the auto-off feature...

RE: 60 Second Delay

It's the latter. You leave it in record mode and it eventually goes to sleep. So the first candid shot will always come off. But if you wait around - maybe you're trying to frame another shot - if you take too long, it goes into Play mode and shows the last shot you took. If you try and take a picture at this point, it'll show you it's in Wait mode and counting down from 60 seconds. Not sure if you can upgrade the firmware, but there doesn't seem to be an option for that in the PCLink software.
