Patented Canola Seeds
A genetically modified seed blows on to a farmer's land and he doesn't destroy
the canola that grows from it. Who
should sue who? The biotech company that created the seed or the farmer for
crop contamination? Or should we just call it even? How does a company protect
it's genetically modified seeds from scattering in the wind? Ha ha, what about
specially formulated water needed to irrigate the crops? Can you imagine this
"special" water making it into our water table and all the two headed
babies that would result? On one hand, I think some technology should be
protected so there is more incentive to innovate; on the other hand, I feel
like seeds falling off your truck is just tough luck. via Slashdot
