A friend of mine has this theory: the innocuous Bert-bin Laden photo is actually a coded message from bin Laden, who realized early on that his videotaped speeches, another source of coded messages, might not get aired by the media. In fact, now the networks have been asked to "exercise judgment" in airing bin Laden's videotaped messages. If this is the case, what is the meaning of Bert?
