theVooner's Christmas 2000 Wish List

by theVooner

With Christmas 2000 just around the corner, I thought I'd create a wish list of things I’m looking to get for myself. I’ve already got a new laptop, digital camera, and a DV Camera, so that’s off the list. Instead, these are some of the better things available now that I don’t already have. Some of the items though are just "upgrades" of my existing gear. Nevertheless, these are the things that motivate me when I’m working into the wee hours of the night...

Top 10 Wish List for theVooner:

  1. Aibo (2nd Generation)
    http://www.aibo.com
  2. The new Aibo is top of theVooner’s wishlist. What more could you want than an interactive dog that doesn’t make a mess all over the house, pauses at will, and is programmable!

  3. Compaq iPaq H3650
    http://www.compaq.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/
  4. The color handheld by Compaq is the best looking handheld since the Palm V. With all of its features, and despite all its limitations, this is one cool gear that’s at the top of my list. Alternatively, the Color Sony PEG-S500C is also a strong candidate as my next PDA (especially with its new blue/red cover available for this Christmas).

  5. Sharp LC-28 LCD Monitor
    http://www.sharp.co.uk/products/index.htm
  6. With so many different Plasma TV’s out there, this one by Sharp is the perfect size for the compact apartments of Asia. Also would consider the very sleek Nakamichi PDP-42.

  7. Apple Power Mac G4 Cube
    http://www.apple.com
  8. The G4 Cube is the perfect replacement for theVooner’s now outdated iMac. While the new iMac’s are great machines at a great price, the G4 Cube with a 15" Apple Flat-Panel Display would just look so good! Also would add on the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks.

  9. Sony Network Walkman NW-MS9
    http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Style-b/Meets_wm/02/index.html
  10. The new Network Walkman is the perfect replacement for theVooner’s Music Clip.

  11. Digital Photo Frame
    http://www.digi-frame.com
  12. Because I own a Nikon 880 that uses Compact Flash, this would be my choice instead of Sony’s PHD-A55 Digital Photo Frame that only uses the Memory Stick.

  13. Pioneer DVR 1000 Recordable DVD
    http://www.pioneer.co.jp
  14. It’s standard may not hold up, it’s still expensive, but hey, its recordable DVD today. If it helps get rid of the hundreds of videotapes I have AND record in digital, it may be worth it.

  15. Bandai Wonder Swan Color
    http://www.swan.channel.or.jp/swan/hardware/index.html
  16. While waiting for the new Color Gameboy next year, the new Wonder Swan may just be the bridge that holds me over. It’s small, plays great games (Final Fantasy, and a new golf game), and is now in color.

  17. Herman Miller Aeron Chair
    http://www.hermanmiller.com
  18. Just so I can be comfortable at home when I’m browsing the web or typing all these reviews. Besides, is there any chair out there that looks nicer?

  19. Alfred Dunhill Carbon Fibre Pen
    http://www.airlineintl.com/html/alfred_dunhill_2000.html
  20. Costing more than twice what most Montblanc pens go for, this is the best looking and most intimidating writing instrument out there. Though if I got it, I’d probably lose it in a day so it’s not really a choice.

comment on future Aibo

I heard a funny comment on some computer mag a while ago... what if they made it so realistic that the Aibo, when it is low on battery, shoot out the old battery through its backside? That would be pretty funny I thought.

Man... with Joe gone (and unavailable to spew his usual know-how on danchan.com, I've been demoted to *his* position of posting sick retarded comments...

Comment on Aeron Chair

It's NOT that comfortable, but sexy as hell, I'll admit.

Merry Christmas!

Schlaulau: Battery shooting out its backside, that's funny. Right now you have to change the battery on its underside, kind of like breast implants.

We have the Aeron at work, and its better than any other chair I have ever used. Besides, it would look so good next to my computer desk at home.

Joe: You sick twisted fool!!!! Was that a proposal?

Out of curiosity, in case you wanted to know, all of the above would cost you just over US$16,000.

Early Merry X'Mas from D.C (no not Dan Chan)

Yup greetings from Washington...

I think theVooner was hinting that a $16,000 present package will complete the wedding contract... Joe I think it is time to break open that secret piggy bank you've been saving into. ;)

Can I be the flower boy at the ceremony Joe and Voon? I will even buy an Aibo for you two as an adopted child...

actually I am at USA Today (Arlington VA) working on their systems migration tomorrow. Only sleeping for 3 hours the past two nights, getting up @ 3 to speak to the German engineers...

Working so hard I don't get to visit Clinton before he leaves office, damn. Oh well I can always go visit Gore, hehe that was a cheap one.

Yup I am getting loopy here - got to go get my 4 hours of sleep now. Later.

By the way Dan before X'Mas schlaulau dot com will look like danchan dot com (at least that is the goal)... no cool cgi scripts like yours but the "look and feel" - that is not included in any patent is it? Hehe.

Later. schlaulau out.

Vooner's wishlist part 2

Don't forget about a great Tiger Woods prototype putter to go with your ERC driver:

http://www.enzo4re.com/scotty_cameron/the_collection/tiger_red_dots_2nd_page.htm

Cost-$30,000 (Not a typo: yes it costs as much as a decent car... IF you can find one)

Elite Wishlist

CliffDaddy>> I thought about including the SC Tour putters on my list. But due to the scarcity and the price, I decided against it. I tried to only include things that are within a general price range, and are easy to find. I could probably do another Wishlist that would include those "outrageous" gifts. But that's just too obscure. Don't worry Cliff, someday, we'll find that Tiger putter.

X'mas gifts

I did buy a lot of new stuff, some of which you will see on here in the next few days.

I got number 2 on my list, the Compaq iPaq 3630. That was it.

The Aibo was extremely disappointing. That plastic junk was so lame. It didn't even want to play with me. :(

The WonderSwan is really crappy too. No good games. I'll wait for the new Gameboy.

Instead of number 5, I bought a new MD instead because I got frustrated with the difficulty of transfering songs.

As per Cliff's comments above, I also bought two new putters, one of them being a "Tour" model.

Instead of the Aeron, I bought a new drawer. Does that count?

Don't worry, more toys are on the way.
