Fencing Tournament this past Sat.

It was all unsanctioned unrated fencers. We did foil. I won in the pools against the most experienced fencer there who went on to win the event. I lost to two people i shouldn't have- one because i was still adjusting to foil from sabre (those cuts must have hurt) and the other because, well, i couldn't get use to the attacking hamster style he had. It would be utterly useless in actual combat, but my sensibilities about screwing right of way in bouts and getting the touch aren't held by the FIE.

Remember, "The best swordsman in all of France does not fear the second best, he fears the worst." And "Half in jest, half in irritation, he said, as he retrieved his foil, that he had met his master--but everybody in the world meets his master, and he would, he said, shortly lead me to mine."
