So Long Astoria

Drawing by Moi
------------------------------------
No one even knows it's there
the all just drive on by,
they all pass the road to nowhere
and follow the dark pink sky

You're on the road to nowhere,
you're off the beaten track,
keep your eyes on the road ahead,
'cause you're never coming back.

As all the lost and sorrowed souls
float past you by and by,
the others all just pass the road,
and follow the dark pink sky.

You're on the road to nowhere,
you're passing under time,
keep your eyes on the road ahead,
'cause it isn't just in your mind.

I really don't know what's wrong with the world today. conformity is now being a non-conformist, people judge too much by the way you look, and no one looks in to the heart inside. why does there have to be so much hate before there can be love again? Who decides what is beautiful and what is not? That's why my name on MSN is "Goth: to find beauty where others do not". i find beauty in poems from the heart, I find beauty in those who have never truly fit in, as i have never myself. As my friend courtney says: " the beauty of something broken is it can be fixed, and therin lies its potential".
To be perfect is to be yourself and not compromise who you are and what you believe in, not a clone of the latest pop Idol or rapper, but to express what is inside yourself. This in itself is hard to achieve, because of all the mockery that comes with it. But if you love to rip out a rhyme, or play a chord, then yuo should be able to do so without the judgement of others.

Another thing that has been bothering me is the emphasis on higher learning. Did you know that you now need to have a degree to become a sanitation technition ( grabage person)? What about the people who do not thrive in the school room, but learn by a hands on approach. My Neighbour Evo, now retired, was a mechanic until he was in his seventies. He never went to school to learn how to do that. he learned on the job because he broke his back and couldn't learn anything else. but he was a whiz at engines and motors. after he retired at Inco (a mining company up here) he went on to work at a machine supply shop because they wanted the best. the new people who were doing it weren't nearly as good as the older guys.
I'm sorry, but if someone can reach that much potential without higher learning, and maybe not even school at all, then we should let people learn as they are able to, not hold them back because they can't grasp the concept of physics, or the mechanics of the human body, or can't write a properly organised essay about some obsucre writer who no one cares about.

I admit that higher learning may be necessary, and that there is no harm in learning these fine things, but it shouldn't be mandatory for me to learn how to do something in math that I will never again use for the rest of my life.

But that's just my Opinion

Well, last night was interesting. I was invited to a Loellen party, by someone who didn't show, along with the rest of my friends. the wierd thing was though, I met three people i hadn't seen in two years.
very wierd.

anyways, so after waiting outsidefor my friends for an hour, i went inside. there was som good tunes, such as It's Like That by Run DMC. did some breakdancing, and realised how very out of shape i am. i am sore all over today, and i didn't really do all that much. must work on that. gonna go clean my room now, and do some excercises.

Later

hey evy buby, i'm typing this from our Cisco room, but not the REAL cisco class. Damn grade tens and their Literacy test using our room. it's really funny because they can read, but no one can READ THEIR WRITING. hence why they're using computers to do it, which isn't too bad. the chairs are really comfortable in here, whcih is a plus, and our Cisco teacher is helping out with the computers, so he's not here all the time, letting me be able to post this. well, Jordan is making up some chords for me for the latest song i Wrote, (see two posts below, i think *checks* yeap, two posts) which is super cool. if the chords sound right, i may go to him for other songs too. which is superfly.

anyways, that's all for now. don't want to get caught if he comes back. later

Today was awesome, i had a good peer mentoring period, and a spare in math, which i spent hanging out first with Chris and Jason (friend i'm gonna hang out with a lot more, for many reasons. he's pretty good at hacking too), and then with Steeev up in the music practice rooms, where i goofed around on the upright bass. very fun.

During lunch i went and hacked with Jason and Chris, and various other folk ( Loki, Dairen, Shane, etc), which was a lot of fun.

After school, went downtown on the bus with Kevin and registered for new health card, (one with a picture on it), then, suprisingly, i hooked up again with jason and chris, along with Tomas. WE went into the rainbow value center (formerly City Center mall) and i bought myself a new hack, new headphones (good quality too. i used them just recently), and a bottle of Vanilla coke for $4.63, a huge deal. then we went into the northern shop ( crazy place that sells every typ of cheap shit imaginable. the knives are good though). then me and tomas went into the antiques store, a cool place.we left, and found out that jason had left to take chris home, so we called him on his cell and he came and picked us up.

So we went driving for a while, then we went back to my mom's office and picked up my stuff, and then hacked in the parking lot between her office building and a place called the Pita Pit (sell, what else? Pitas. they're really good, especially the blackforest ham one) then we went to a place called Respect is Burning, a sort of restaurant/club thing, and ordered some awesome pizza. Jason and i split one called the superfly (Sausage, bacon, Cheese, Red peppers, and steak), while tomas had his vegetarian one. really good. and we paid for it on Jason's dad's business tab, which was really cool. then They drove me home, and we hacked on my street for a while, then went and hung in my basement for a while. then they left. a good time was had by all.

As an added Bonus today, i now have my Bari Sax all repaired up, and a blind in my room. today has been a truly good day.

that's all for now.

-Latest Song Posting-

Well, I've given this one to Checkerbored, to put in her collection, so i thought i might as well send this out to all you people out here in the gret expanse of the Net. It's my latest song (well that i see fit to publish), called, for simplcity, "The Funeral Song"

The Funeral Song

As I see the crimson,
I hear the band playing
Not solemnly for me

Playing my chords,
Singing my lyrics,
i wish i could hear it
my road to nowhere wand'rings
finally revealed... out loud

What would you do,
If my life was swept away,
would you grieve,
would you honour me?
would you play my song,
would you do it.. for me.

It trickles down my arm,
and i finally see the harm,
the i put on all the faces of my friends

Playing my bari
Reciting my poem
my soul is torn
and so are the words
upon this sheet... of mine

What would you do,
If my life was swept away?
Would you grieve,
would you honour me?
would you play my song,
would you do it.. for me..

my vision is blurring,
my life no longer stirring
my time is almost up.

Singing the notation
I hear all the lyrics
from my seat above the crowd
I wish you could see me
so proud of you all
no better friends could ever... be found

What would you do,
If my life was swept away?
Would you grieve,
would you honour me?
would you play my song,
would you do it.. for me..

What would you do,
If my life was swept away?
Would you grieve,
would you honour me?
would you play my song,
would you do it.. for me..

-"If I died tomorrow, would this song live on forever?"-

Listening to the Ataris "So long Astoria" album right now. it's Lex's but I think i'm gonna borrow it again tonight, because my computer burner actually works now, so i'll burn it there. I have gotten a new favourite song, " Unopened Letter to the World". It actually inspired me to write another song, and I'll post that later, as it's at home and right now i'm in CISCO class.

"If I died, tomorrow, would this song live on forever?
Here is.. my unopened letter to a world
that never shall reply"

- "Unopened letter to the world" by The Ataris

I just got my interm reports today, i'm failing math, almost failing cisco, and doing average in CISCO. but, i don't know what I have in Perr mentoring, as I haven't haded in anything that is to be marked, and all that shows up is NO MARK on the sheets.

anyways, this is NOT GOOD. i'm trying my ass off, and I'm still failing. i hate this. I don't care if i can't stay in step. i'll walk to lockerby if i have to. i'm not going anywhere else. and no one can make me do otherwise. Not my parents, no the school board, nobody. All my friends go here, and whithout my friends, i don't know what i'd do. I don't even want to imagine what i might do to myself.

-Spoken word (try and say it to yourself, or out loud)-

well, i've been thinking of life lately.

Its roads are long and pointless.

I don' know why i've been thinking of life,
perhaps the wandering meandering jumbling steps in my mind
have taken a wrong turn.

whoever said that life is long had no idea
from free thought to free form i stand before you
a single voice in the darkness of your soul.
the questions of life are mine to ask and all i do is churn up the grass and hope i can keep up with the rest of the pack.

who put an "S" in lisp?
who cares anymore!?

all this while i've thought,
who really knows what's going on?
is the politicians or the magicians or the technicians?
almost time to go, people to see, lives to know
who kows what's in store for me now?
or for you?

this has been a spoken word by Biff
