Are they really the poorest of us all?

Africa.

In class Mme gave us one word and asked us to tell her what it meant to us. Answers flew. Poverty. Depression, lack of economic growth. AIDS, deasise, plagues. Genocide, revolution. French degredation. Nothing good.

That's not what I saw. That one word brings to my mind a collage of pictures. It shows me a nomadic tribe living in the most beautiful of lands. A strong people that have survived in some of the harshest conditions, who live by their own two hands.

I see a people deservign respect and merit. I see a people who have learned to co-operate with each other, to love, to cherish, and to respect both each other and the land on which they walk. I see a people rich in culture and language.

I don't see the famine, the disease, the problems of the continent. I see their success. I see how a continent thought of as poor is really a collage of the richest countries in the world.

*hugs*

Material wealth matters not in this world I live in. My world is love.

That is Beautiful Kitty!

Hi there girlfriend. How have you been? Africa is an amazing place that has overcome so much; I wish we could all see that. Love you

A very nice view... however when i think about africa i think about in both ways... everything that is good and then the few problems... however i have always found that the good always beats what we think is wrong... and if i was told to describe africa, it would be about all the good parts with a light touching on the few problems... though i think that anyone who really looks over africa and sees everything there willl realise that there is a lot of nice and beautiful places and people and animals... it is truly a wonderful continent...
