Sitting in class� they�re arguing around me. The argument? Why 11s can�t leave the cafe during spares. Of course no one wants to accept that it�s illegal, they want to fight the point.

Lenti�s argument: Your ability to make logical decisions isn�t developed enough to look at logical implications of a situation and not just the emotions you feel regarding the situation.

Half of the class� argument: What�s the difference between us and the 12s? We�re the same students. If you say that there is a whole year between us and the 12s for development to occur, but shouldn�t we get credit for the tears of development between us and the 9s and 10s? We�re not childish, we just want freedom and to have fun.

The other half�s silence: She�s telling you that you don�t think logically and that you�re too emotional to make decisions and you�re responding with pure emotion and not thinking about the implications of even your words. Can you not see that you�re proving her right?

Independence

Independence is such a funny concept, we are taught to strive for it, but our nature tells us that it is not ours to have.

As infants we stick close to our parents, because they will take care of us. When we grow to be children we still stay near our parents but we branch out, we look not only to other elders but to other children; friends. These friends we soon learn are the source of laughter and of playfulness; for the rest of our lives we will seek to regain those moments as children, however we will forget that it came only with friendship. As we grow into teenagers we begin to live in the "real world", and to fend for ourselves. Most of us let go of our families entirely, and are left with a few good friends who are also searching for that thing we call independence.

I look around me, to the adults... Not many of them have friends anymore, they live with their husband or wife, they go to work, they are alive, but they live without friends. The adults I see don't go out at night any more, they have forgottne how to have fun. No, they haven't forgotten... they made a trade. They exchanged their ability to have fun for the independence society told them to find. For aloneness. However in the eyes of those adults I also see hearts searching for the childhood memory of freedom and fun....

It is not until I look into the eyes of the oldest generation, our grandparents, that I see the glimmer of that childishness again. Our grandparents could care less about society, they have worked, loved, lived. And now they live for themselves, not for society. They have a group of friends that they hang out with, be it fishing, playing cards, or yelling BINGO!. They don't play dress up with high heeled shoes, but with that sweater that they haven't seen since the "good ol' days". At that age I guess we are all destined to revisit our childhood, but I also see the independence of adulthood in them.

So why is it, that now... as teenagers, we look for independence? Why do we look to be alone, and to work alone? But more so, why to we look to do this in the absence of our childishness? Why do we exchange childhood for adulthood, instead of letting childhood evolve into adulthood?

OMGosh!!! For those of you whoa re computer freaks and haven't actually ventured outside your front doors on this b-e-a-u-tiful day... GO! Now!!! And find a lake for me while you're there.... You have no idea how much torture it is to work right beside the lake and yet you can't just jump in... Not fair!!! :'( I wanna go to camp!!!! Please? Pretty please? With something-safer-than-chocolate-or-cherries on top???

It's sooo pretty out... I spent like two hours outside sunning animals today... it was crazy. That probably explains my headache and dizziness though. That and I want an excuse to not work so I'm probably making things worse unintentionally (Jesse or Regs or Lex can beat me up later for spelling it wrong). I want my sandels, and I want out of these pants and into my green pants. That is... only if I can't just change into a bathing suit and go swimming. Stupid not actually living on a lake.

Can we see a re-occuring pattern of wants? nooo...

Okay, so yesterday was amusing... I cleaned the entire house before noon, then did homework for two or three hours. Then mom got home just as the kid was finishing doing his chores and we planned the rest of the weekend. Josh threw another fit because the "stupid dead person messed up my plans! You're being unfair mom!". Yeah... Like we have any control over when mononcle died. *doesn't mention the family curse and signing of papers*

Okay, so Dan calls shortly thereafter and we talk on the phone for an hour and a half... at which point my aunt from Kingston calls to ask where her asshole of a brother (her words not mine) is. FYI - my dad and brother had left to pick her up at the bus station an hour earlier. I hang up on Dan to try to reach my father, who has two cell phones that are both turned off, then go eat supper. Finally my mom and I figure out that my aunt took the TRAIN in, not the bus and we tell my dad to come home as my mom goes to get my aunt now that she is late for her dinner party.

Then of course the fun starts and Dan picks me up after being followed by some idiots all the way down Kantola, and we go to meet Noah at the theatres. And of course my numbnut of a best friend refused to let me change... so yeah... Not quite my choice of attire.

Such a loooong weekend!!!

I stole this from Jazz, it's quite amusing. I tried to break up the song into the appropriate lines, but it's so messed up sometimes two are mixed together.
1. Take the lyrics to a favorite song.
2. Go to Google Language Tools and translate the lyrics into German; then from German to French; and finally from French back into English. (note: I used another translator and I was going to go through a bunch of languages, but the word limit was too small)
3. Post the results verbatim.
4. Invite your friends to guess the song based on the newly mangled lyrics.
