Time to raise the general IQ level of you dipshits...

What is time?

Time is how we see events happen. It is a rate at which things happen, but what is it. The Wheeler DeWitt equation says it is a manifestation of consciousness, and that the universe consists of four dimensions of space. Then how do we see time happen throughout the universe?

The definition of time according to general relativity and non-gravity quantum mechanics is that time is a fourth spatial dimension, but everything moves along it linearly applying most of the maximum speed (c) to move along it with the exception of light, which travels in only in the three standard spatial dimensions. This is the basis of general relativity and is the accepted form of our universe. Unfortunately, the simplest union of general relativity and quantum mechanics is the Wheeler DeWitt equation of quantum gravity. The only problem is that it does away with a special fourth dimension and states that it is space just like the other three.

The physics community has not accepted the Wheeler DeWitt model of quantum gravity because it has no time. The concept of time ceases to exist, Wheeler and DeWitt took it no further, and it has much been ignored. It seems that relativity would work in a four-dimensional space if you could define time but this has not been pursued.

Some would say, pish, you don't need time, let the philosophers figure that one out, but time and speeds make relativity work.

So what is time? Is it the rate of movement in one dimension compared to another, similar to slope on a two dimensional graph? If it is, then why can't we see this fourth dimension? Why is consciousness trapped in a three dimensional slice of four-dimensional space? The concept of destiny is not ruined. The Uncertainty Principal sees to it. Quantum fluctuations and the fact that paths are probable not definite, prevent us from knowing exactly what will happen, only the probability.

Quantum God

Early peoples noticed the inexplicable and were perplexed. They created God to explain things. In time, science caught up and explained many things, but there are still some unexplained happenings to this date. Perhaps God does exist, and that we can never explain everything, or, there is a god, but not in the usual sense. Perhaps God is simpler than we think, but at the same time the most complex happening in the universe, the Quantum Foam.

In an "empty" region of space, there is actually much activity. Particles and anti-particles coming into existence and annihilating each other, canceling out their effect on the universe, but black holes have entropy because they pull away one of the particles. What if the anti-particle annihilated the wrong particle, could that not have an effect on the ultimate outcome of the universe?

If these undulations were large enough, could that outcome be noticeable? If it was a large enough change, then is it possible that this is the force early peoples took to be God? If so, our religion could be based on something that governs the ultimate outcome of the universe, but not in the sense of a higher consciousness? If this is true, then what is prayer? Is it possible consciousness can influence the outcome of the universe? Then how? Is consciousness more than the fundamental particles?

So perhaps God is the collective influence of consciousness on the fundamental particles, and explains the rise of religion in EVERY culture to come about until modern times, where Atheism has come about, and science has caused much Agnosticism as well. This lack of belief may end god. People ask why there can be so much evil can happen, and this is an answer. Of course we now come to the question ‘What is consciousness?’ and may end full circle and none the wiser.

Of course, so many of you will probably just skip over it because you don't feel like thinking, or don't understand it... sigh...

Nothing has gone faster as light, that's for sure.

Everyone could argue about God for years. Many stop until they have their own interpretation that they are happy with. I haven't necessarily found mine yet.

A favourite theory of mine, is that I am God. The proof's all there. Think about it.

I feel that time is a constant. That's the best way to explain it.
I don't know exactly what Einstein meant when he said you could travel back in time if you go faster than the speed of light... How can we be certain that light travels as fast as anything can ever possibly go?
It's all theories... heh

La dee da

What i meant by "in over your head" is that no answer could ever be close to right or wrong. Arguments about God could go on for decades and the only resolution is for 2 people to completely agree, but that doesn't mean anything.

A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still.

What are your theories of time Jesse?

Apart from your numerous spelling mistakes, which I will ignore, I would not say I am in over my head. It is man's nature to be curious and to wonder about his surroundings. Ignorance can be bliss, but Knowledge can be fulfilling. Some people are content to sit on their ass and ignore everything around them, effectively being parasites to society.
I can't help it if when I'm bored, I pick up books about Quantum Mechanics and Space.
These are merely theories I am posting. If you'll read more carefully, you'll notice I carefully eliminated any first and third person perspectives... Thus, you should not be talking to me, but presenting your thoughts. I am not intertwined with the theories put forth.
That having been said, I appreciate your input, lacking in theoretical evidence though it may be, but then, you guys can post whatever you want... </slightly irritable rambling>

You think too much

TIME
Conciousness is existance, on which we interperate the 4 dimentions (up, down, space, and time). Time is more or less a ribbon, in which our concious mind places matter "occuring." You don't move along time, without your conciousness there would be no time. Without conciousness matter and time cannot exist. And no one "sees" time, we simply need some way on interpreting matter "occuring" or changing in whatever form.
My theory is that all 4 dimensions exist, but because of conciousness. the 4 dimentions are a manifestation of the mind (i think that's how you'd say it.)
Speed is simply measuring distance and time together. Time remains the same because your brain uses it as a constant. Time has no rate. Conciousness is infinite, so it can interprete all this.
Conciousness does not exist within time, but time exists within conciousness. It's simply a way of organizing the 4th dimention. You may counter with "conciousness follows along time" but it doesn't necessarily have to... Everything in the world relies on concioussness. Without it, everything would cease to exist.
You can measure time, distance, height, and space, but can you measure conciousness? Time is tangable.

GOD (simply my interpretation)
God is not the manifestation of explaination. God is best to be considered the one who created it all and lives within it. More or less how Steve summed it up. He's nature, he is science. He created all those things we can explain and those we can't (but soon will). The ultimate thing he created that we can't truely explain is Conciousness (time is a simply thing jesse, it needs no definition, if it can be measured it's simple).
God doesn't necessarily have to be conciousness, because we contain it too. As far as we can tell, there are no higher or lower forms of conciousness, but simply how well the individual can interperate it. You are getting way over your head Jesse.
Everything has to be relative to the individual.
Maybe God can be summed up as the manifestation of ALL.

....

Probably said that wrong.

Big Long Fancy Words Me No Know

Okay, first off time is the unexplainable. Secondly, if God is the explanation then it's all good. If science is the explanation then it's all good. But don't mix the two! Because God cannot explain science, as he made the earth, and Science cannot explain God as evolution created the peoples. Thirdly, let's stick to time, no sens ein confusing us dumbnuts with more than one topic. Fourthly, nicely put. Finally, can you say it again in english and with shorter and more comprehendable words...

I believe in God, I just call it Nature.
