Searching in the Darkness

As the sun sets on this world again,
I'm plunged into the dark
Scouring this darkened plane,
I continue the search for my heart

Though the search seems hopeless,
I continue on in vain
Because I must find an end
To this neverending pain

Searching in the darkness
Stumbling in fear
As the search becomes more hopeless,
I sense the end is near

But as the darkness starts to lift,
And my fear and dread subside
I discover that my heart has found
A new place to reside

My thoughts and dreams are all of her
She captivates my heart
She's put an end to my search
And saved me from the dark

Living Proof Rocks

Well, I don't have much time, and not a whole lot happened this week, so I'm not gonna talk about much. But the one thing I have to mention is the Living Proof show. It was truly spectacular. I ended up getting a poster signed by all the guys in Living Proof and a Red Umbrella CD. Red Umbrella was the other group playing at the show. Funny thing was, Living Proof was actually the opening band, but they were a lot better and got a much bigger reaction than Red Umbrella. Actually, I think most of the people were there to see Living Proof anyway. But it was an awesome concert.

One other thing I'm gonna touch on though is the slight adjustment I made to my blog. I changed the links section. Yeah, that's it. Oh and Kevin's got his new site up and running, so go check it out.

Oh, and I'm looking forward to career day on Thursday. Career info and no classes. Sounds good to me. And without further ado...

Song of the Week: Sorry by Living Proof! It's apparently their "signature" song, and it's great. I've had it stuck in my head all day. There's probably no way you'll be able to hear it though. I gotta find out if they have any sort of recording yet...

Question of the Week: What should I add to my "Other links" section? I sorta drew a blank for sites, so I'm gonna leech off the ideas of you guys.

Highlight of the Week: Obviously the concert. Living Proof is so great. They are definately the best local band I have ever seen. Andrew, Ben, Mark, Joel... Keep rocking.

Lowlight of the Week: I dunno... In retrospect, this was a pretty good week.

'Til next time,

"A fire burns inside, leaving scars so deep
Every waking hour, bringing moments of lost sleep
So many questions asked, you're left without an answer
This longing in your heart, it's like a hidden cancer"
- Sorry

I'm gonna go do some more songwriting. I've been inspired.

Peace out

Quite the weekend

Hey everybody, hope you had a good long Easter weekend.

After a relatively uneventful week at school, I had a rather interesting long weekend. Not only was it Easter, a 4-day weekend, my mom's birthday and we took Damien overnight, but my good-for-nothing brother Matt (I mean that in a playful, younger brother kinda way, I'm not insulting him) arrived in town and he and his girlfriend Kristen spent some time over here at our place. I don't really know what he's gonna be doing now, but I don't think he knows either. And I was sick basically all week. From puking my guts out on Monday to a huge head cold this weekend, that side of the week really sucked. But I'm basically back to normal now.

A few small things did happen this week though. I finally recieved my birthday gift for Amanda arrived from the UK, only 2 weeks after her birthday, lol. I ended up having to buy it online 'cause I couldn't find one in town. And after much time and effort, I found it on Ebay from some guy in the UK. You probably saw her carrying it around to class, as she held on to it all day (for whatever reason). And I got my ticket for the Living Proof show on the 26th (can't wait). You should all go to the show too. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Show starts at 7pm. And by "in advance," I mean if you run into Andrew Hyatt in the halls, he'll sell you one. And Ben Quinn sells them too I think. Well, he is the drummer.

Actually, there's a few things coming up real soon that I'm looking forward to. There is, of course, the Living Proof show on the 26th, that Career Day thing on May 1st and then on May 5th, we're leaving for the STEP science trip. That should be fun.

Song of the Week: Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls. This is a great song. Some nice mellow guitar accompanied with some great lyrics that I think just about everyone can relate too.

Question of the Week: Why am I still doing this question of the week thing? They're really hard to come up with...

Highlight of the Week: It'd have to be this weekend. I got to see Damien, Matt and Kristin, it was my mom's birthday, and I even got a new controller for my GameCube. Not to mention the chocolate. :D

Lowlight of the Week: Being sick. Yeah I know it was all week, not one point in time, like the lowlight's supposed to be, but it really sucked. :P

'Til next time,

"And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am"
- Iris

Another week gone by

Once again, the week seems to have flown by at an amazing speed (At this rate, summer will be here in no time). And once again, school has prevented me from doing much of anything. However, despite an unusually huge amount of job work and schoolwork, I sacrificed some work time to go see a movie, and all in all, I'm happy I did. Biff and I went to see "The Core." It was a great movie. Unique story and excellent computer animation.

Song of the Week: In This Diary by The Ataris. This is a great song. And the lyrics paint a pretty cool picture. Interesting thing is, I liked this song for the music, before I even made any sense of the lyrics. And they only prove to further improve the music.

Question of the Week: Why is it, that when you make a simple suggestion or comment, that someone who isn't even directly involved goes and blows it completely out of proportion? Why do people make things their business, thereby making everyone look bad and causing unnecessary anger and grief?

Highlight of the Week: The Core. It was a great movie, and it was just nice to get out to the movies with a friend.

Lowlight of the Week: Saturday. I had about twice the normal amount of invoicing to do, and it ended up taking me all afternoon and into the evening. Yeesh, I'm glad that's over.

'Til next time,

"Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up,
These are the best days of our lives.
The only thing that matters is just following your heart,
And eventually you'll finally get it right"
- In This Diary

Bored...

Well I am sitting in the library, very bored and frustrated, because this is supposed to be a work period and I can't get any work done. And that's because the library computers suck. I couldn't log onto my school account from the library, and I had to download firstclass e-mail in order to get the files I wanted. See, the only thing I really have to work on is my Swish animation, and my files are only on the Lockerby server or my firstclass account. And now that I finally have the files, I can't work on them, because fucking Bess won't let me download Swish. Argh.

So to pass the time, I'm posting here. And I wanted to post this poem that Biff wrote a little while ago. I think it's pretty damn good considering that he's just started writing. Anyway, it's called "The Wanderer" and here it is:

The Wanderer

Slowly I wander, and look out to see only a vast expanse of the lonely.
Nothing ahead, nothing behind, nothing to the side.
only a slow, winding road ahead of me.

I've been following this road for ages, it seems,
Through the vast and giant
field of sorrowful, empty dreams.

I never seem to get ahead, I seem to fall behind.
twisting left and right, up and down,
through the horrible expanses of my mind.

Maybe one day I'll finally be done
or maybe until the end of time
In this vast landscape where there is no sun.

Keep up the good work Biff!

Peace everyone,

Lex Larmon

Computers suck

Well, I was going to post last night, but my computer kept fucking up, so I was unable to. Very frustrating. It reminds me of that great haiku:

Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that

Anyway, just another week in the life of Lex. Except, time seems to be moving much faster lately. This week, like a few before it, seems to have just flown by at an amazing speed. Weird, huh?

Nothing really special in my life, mostly 'cause of schoolwork tying me down. Mostly english (damn Geiger). But hey, whatta you gonna do.

One point of interest though is my brother Matt (the one with the screwed up life, not the one in Switzerland). Seems his life is becoming increasingly screwed up. Turns out, he is now in Vancouver. This was a rather large shock to me, as I thought he was getting his life back together in Ottawa and had no advance knowledge of this change. Apparently, he was "not wanted in Ottawa" anymore and decided to pack up and leave. This is just another example of the lack of communication or any kind of relationship that has always existed between me and Matt. I never see him, never talk to him, and this has basically been so since he moved out when I was like, five years old. I think the only time in about ten years that I actually sat down and talked to him was when he told me that he was having a kid. I really regret not ever getting to know Matt, but unfortunately, there was never really anything I could do about it.

Well, I'm off to write a song about how screwed up my family life is.

Talk to y'all later,

Lex Larmon

Link Updates

You may notice I've got a few new people in my blog links section. After showing off my new template, a couple of my friends (namely Kevin, Chris and Amanda) signed up for their own blog. But you probably won't see much on their pages, until they start actually posting stuff (hint hint).

On a semi-related note, I'm gonna try a tinker with my template and have a Blog links section and general internet sites links section. Be patient if I screw up my page. I will make a backup.
