daypop weblog

I am in Rome! Daypop is down!

I just logged on to the Internet for the first time in about a week. No idea what happened to Daypop but I will not be back until the 13th of September to fix it! Sorry to all the people who rely on Daypop... Unfortunately, there is no way for me to debug what is going wrong from here.

Off to Siena on the next train!

blogs

I think links on blogs will not be counted anymore by google, just like guestbooks. I've been watching some sites that had hundreds of links from weblogs. Now google displays only a few links to these sites when you seach for backward links.

Are you back yet?

It´s the 13th... any chance we´ll have daypop back today?

I looked up a few days ago and thought the site was gone. Suggestion: start thinking financially - daypop is too good to become another great idea with no business model.

Regards and thanks for the site.

Servers require s-e-c-r-e-c-y

It's my experience that when you plan extended trips or vacations, or special demonstrations of your servers, you should not discuss it in the presence of your servers. Like teenagers being left at home while the folks do Europe, they get all excited about it and get all flustered and start making silly mistakes. Next time you make plane reservations, spell it o-u-t.

We are so happy you're not gone. Welcome back.

Oh thank god.

I'm just glad it's not gone forever. Do you make any money from this site? Ever consider setting up paypal donations or selling tees through cafe press? That way you could save up to get a laptop or something like that to keep things going and anyway you deserve it, this is a great site I use it every day!

The Hairy Eyeball

Don't sweat it, man. It's just a Web site! You're setting a good example for the carpal-tunnel suffering youth by being such a famous geek and actually going offline for unthinkable amounts of time! ;-)

Regarding the muffins

I sent them to Rome! He is in Siena and cannot eat them. He called his mommy finally, from Siena. Do not worry, I scolded him verbally for not putting a message on the front page that daypop's search was down.

Yes, the muffins are banana-nut, did you expect chocolate chip? I feed him healthy food only, so my son can have regular bowel movements.

I'm happy to learn that Daypop is just down for a few days and not permanently gone as I suspected it was... but it really would have made a lot of sense to post an Out of Order note.

Phew!

I was beginning to think I had messed up the Daypop search code on my website.

Just a thought...

Any chance that you could hand off the troubleshooting of DayPop's problems to someone else, while on vacation? perhaps a friend or colleague that you trust enough, and who has the technical knowledge? ... Well, just wishful thinking on my part I suppose.

Looking forward to the 13th... I'm a DayPop junkie.

Danny Boy

I want you to call me. Also do not be rude, put a link on the front page of daypop to this blog entry and state that something is wrong in daypopland where everyone can see. I sent you muffins!
