daypop weblog

Weblog RSS

Not officially released yet, but you can test out Daypop's weblog specific RSS search by substituting &t=p (which means type=posts) instead of the usual &t=w (type=weblogs) in the URL. I'm going to check out how it's doing over the next day or so, before adding two more items to the drop-down menu.

The new drop-downs will eventually have

  • News & Weblogs
  • News
  • Weblogs
  • RSS News & Weblogs
  • RSS News
  • RSS Weblogs

That's a lot of options and I'm thinking it might be necessary to partition off RSS searches to another part of the site, say rss.daypop.com.

Daypop relies on NewsIsFree and now Blogstreet to provide notification of when an RSS file has been updated.

Mike Krus was nice enough to add a weblog flag so that Daypop could differentiate between weblog RSS and news site RSS from NewsIsFree.

Veerchand Bothra from Blogstreet is helping Daypop by updating a changes file for the weblog RSS feeds in their database.

Being able to restrict your searches to weblog RSS wouldn't be possible without their help. Thanks go out to both of them.
