E-mail posts
My sister was wondering if there was an option to have we::blog e-mail you when a new comment was posted. I'm guessing you don't want to host that but I wonder if there is an easy way to add somthing to the template to make it call a CGI script passing info like the title, text and link info when a message is submitted

Have you seen?
King Hu's, A Touch of Zen, 1969 Peking Opera Blues, 1980 Zu: Warriors of the Magic Mountain Dragon Gate Inn Swordsman
The critic on Movieline is claiming that these are all as good or better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. So, now I want to see them. Have you guys seen any of them?

scaling problems
So, have you given much thought to scaling problems? It seems like it's not going to be too long until we::blog as too much traffic. Bascially for each person that signs up and adds it to their website you all of a sudden have to host all their traffic.

You should add website to your form
You should add "website" to your signup form when creating a we::blog. There's all these we::blogs being created but as they are being used to embed in a website there is currently no way to find out about them.
For example it would be cool to see the "No Name" we::blog or the "Almost Daily Rambings" we::blog but there's no way to get their from here

Stupid Idea #45368
Like frontpage it would be cool if you convert any group of spaces into multiple followed by a space. Assume "x" = " ".
Then "x" -> "x" "xx" -> " x" "xxx" -> " x" also "\nx" -> "<br> "
reason? As it is now I can't indent with spaces. The next 3 lines have 1 space, 5 spaces and 10 spaces in front of each line respectively.
1 space 5 spaces 10 spaces
but they all end up at the same place because of the way HTML handles spaces.

stupid idea #45367
It would be cool if we::blog would automagically substitute <img src="http://www.danchan.com/happyface.gif> for etc.
Even cooler you could put the subs in your template
sub " " "<img src="http://www.greggman.com/happyface.gif>"

Well Apple finally made something I almost want
the new G4 Powerbook. (http://www.apple.com/powerbook/)
I saw one at Sakaraya today. It's way cool they have a 15.2 inch screen. It sucks though that it's only 1152x768. What the hell are they thinking? Oh well. For a moment I though it was something cool.

Contact Protocol Serial 000-001
From Commander Bob Blog:
Due to the immense traffic generated by this site, the NSA has identified danchan.com as a possible initiative designation for extra terrestrial contact.
I, commander Blog, will be in charge of Project 'Hi, you are not alone either' (Code name - 'Kill'em all') and will periodically post messages to our starlight friends.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Greetings Aliens,
Hello, welcome, we are the people of planet Earth. Just as you want to be our friends, we are commited to be yours too. Please don't confuse all of us as those who regularly contributes to danchan.com and we::blog, for us Earthlings are not constantly bored, confused, or otherwise insane. We are genuinely cool and sociable people who like to be outdoors too.
If you receive this message of goodwill, and you are able to decipher it with your superior technology, please allow us the opportunity to meet your people (or blobs of organic pulp) so we can conduct certain brief medical examinations to ensure your well-being, right here, on Big Blue.
Thank you, and we look forward to contacting you again.

Man seeking woman
I am a bland, boring, fat, stupid, short, lazy, sloppy man seeking a female teen model who's 5'-10" or above and 110 pounds or less and have been in at least 3 international fashion magazines. Preferably someone who shares the same joy as I do in we::blog, who is not confined to established social cliches by paying for her own slices of extra topping pizza + beer, and who wants to spend long hours in a darkened basement fornicating with her own Pentium 4, 1.3 GHz, 80 Gig desktop. Looking for friendship only if leads to definite physical relationship.
No, I'm not rich either.
*Interested parties please leave me a message in mailbox #435435

In need of opinions
I've got silly dilemmas and I want suggestions
1) I want/need a CompactFlash card for my CE machine so I can fit the larger Japanese dictionary. A 16 meg card seems like a waste of money but then the question is how far up do I go. Prices have dropped at least $30 for a 64meg card since December to 9600yen for the no-name brand and 12800yen for Lexar 8X. That's not too much money but then I'm thinking if I get a new camera that's 4 to 6 mega pixels (whenever the next Nikon comes out) then 64meg is probably too small. 160meg is 31800yen for the Lexar 8X but we're talking about serious money. There's also a possibility that I won't be able to use the big dictionary on my CE machine as it may not have enough regular memory to deal with the big dictionary in which case I'd need a new CE machine.
2) I want a scanner. There are lots of things I want to scan to put on my webpages or to archive. I have a scanner back in LA in storage. An HP6200. My original thought was that I could just go to Kinko's if I needed to scan something but I find that it's so far out of the way that I'm unlikely to do it were as if the scanner was here there are already lots of things I would have scanned (for example sample ads for apts for my Tokyo Apts page). So the question again is what to do. (1) do without, (2) send from America, probably $70 + possibly broken. (3) get cheapest hear, $100 (4) Get a good one here $350. What should I do?
