OK, while I'm on a roll!

Since I've been neglecting to contribute on we::blog for awhile (to the dismay of only myself), and the subject of Japan is alive and well with unnoteworthy (though cool CG worthy) movies like Pearl Harbour (Can't we all get along??) AND we can't just mention Japanese literature without talking about Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood so therefore I will ^_*!

Anyway, Murakami's book proved to the world that it IS possible to write both a profound work of literature AS WELL as a super best seller. For a description of the story you can get it off Amazon, but I thought in particular it was an amazing journey through pains and regrets and internal conflicts we all faced while we are (were) young. If suicide is lingering on your mind these couple of days, DON'T read this damn book! But if you wanna take time out to do a little emotional grinding and whipping while you're clearing out a little internal waste of your own, then by all means, you'll be raving about it afterwards too!

Sandrain's weblog...

Talked about the movie Love Letter, written and directed by Shunji Iwai. It's another cool Japanese movie that deals with incidental pasts and how chains of events impact the outcome of unsuspecting lives. It's a nice and sweet story that makes you think about all the previous encounters in your life that if explored, could have turned out to be something more.

The unique quality of Japanese cinema and literature is that the depth of human emotions and reasonings are dealt through very simple and seemingly uncomplicated events. But as they compiled and evolved, we are not preached, but instead moved to the point of comprehension and contemplation.

If heaven is a piece of your memory...

That lived on for an eternalty, which one would you choose?

This was the question posed by director Hirokazu Kore-eda in his film After life, a really touching film about people in search for this answer.

The memory I will take with me would be the moment when I experienced Midori's performance. Surely to be a complete classical snob ^_*, but more so it allowed me to understand more about life than I thought possible, a moment whereby memories of family, friendships, love, hate, sadness, joy were relived in its essence and made me really glad I've had all these things to reflect upon, and that there will be more such cherished experiences to come.

Which memory would you guys take to heaven? ^^

more blog fun

What about a karma thing? Right now you have the "x" people found this comment interesting (or is that only Danchan.com not not we::blog)

Anyway, I'm still hoping for the anon thing. I don't know if you read the Joel post where they checked to see how many people were not downloading their demo software because you had to sumbit your email address and it turned out to be 50% so they stopped asking for the e-mail address since if you want a copy of their software you're going to contact them.

Okay so, I was thinking about ways to encourage NOT posting anonymously. One way might be karma. If there was a way to show a list of people that have the most karma then some people might be encouraged to post more and to do it by logging in instead of anon. Of course I'm not sure how you'd get karma. Would it be my getting your post recommended? The problem of course it that you could just make 20 id's and then bump up your own karma.

Help?

Timezones

Apparently, a lot of people from other timezones are discovering we::blog. It was inevitable. And I put it off long enough. I'm going away to New York for a week, but as soon as I get back, I'll work on getting different timezones working in addition to a couple other features (maybe). Right now, all times are Pacific Daylight Savings Time (West Coast United States/California in the summer time).

Don't worry, once I add in the timezone feature, all previous message posting times will get converted automatically if you specify a different timezone.

Comments Chaos

I'm troubled with comments. When I comment on a post, I can't see my own post. At first I thought this was because I had to reload the page from the server, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Even after numerous refreshings holding SHIFT and applying all kinds of tricks, I can't see my own comments... Something is wrong with my template maybe? Somebody, somewhere, m'aider! To get more in the weblog spirit, I'll share something personal: I like fluffy animals, I like hollow phrases and somebody eating toast in a professonial way.

We::blog land

*) Any thoughts an annoymous posting?

*) I've run into a *feature*. I access we::blog from about 3 different computers. When I access it in one, it logs me out of the other. I'm not sure this is a plus (at least for me). Nobody else on those computers is reading any we::blogs yet. Would there be a way to fix this?

Problems making public weblog

I don't know if this is the right spot to ask, but I'm having troubles creating a public weblog, like the one I'm posting in right now. Anyone that has a DanChan nickname, should be able to post in my weblog but it doesn't seem to work, even though I've read the FAQ and adjusted my template accordingly. I'm probably doing something wrong, maybe someone could help?
Many many thanks in advance!!
