I can't guarantee that this old server (which is still handling danchan.com) will hold up. Have no idea why the new one isn't visible to the outside world.

I THOUGHT we::BLOG is closing. I have set up plan to migrate to another service but fortunately today you appeared promising better server. Thank You very much. I tried BLOGGER, LIVEJOURNAL, UPSAID & DAIRYLAND but WE::BLOG is the best (minus the server doen time).

Have no idea...
...what happened. I changed danchan over to a newer, better server on Tuesday, but for some reason, no one outside could get at it. I didn't know about this until someone emailed me and asked me what was happening today. I've returned we::blog to the old server which is still prone to crashing because it uses IBM's new drives that are only rated operable at "60 hours a week".
The reason the new server is not visible to the outside world eludes me.

how do i edit an entry? the edit button isn't there. i dunno what i did to it when i edited my template. but now the codes that didn't work in my entry are showing and i wanna change it but i dunno how to edit it =/

I just wanted to promote a site - namely my own - until I can join a webring.

How do i show the email address or the url of someone who posted a comment? When i inserted [$author_email] and [$author_url] beside [$author_nickname], nothing shows up. Is there a way i can let those who leave comments also leave their email and web address too? If possible, how?

Yesterday was crazy
First, the server melted down. Well, I'm being melodramatic. It overheated and the hard drives were inoperable. I had to open the case, cool it down and clean out the gunked up filters. I thought everything was lost. Thankfully, after cooling off, the server came back to life.
Just as soon as the server was up, Parker chewed through the DSL line on one of her sneaky, quiet, chewing missions. I had to drive out to Fry's in traffic and buy the line crimping tool and extra connectors to fix it.
Phew.

Dan Chan, you're still the man! These things happen. We can't help but be patient. After all, this *is* the coolest blog service in the world and it's free! Thanks for all you've done and all you do, Dan.

we::blog was down for awhile because a number of things went wrong.
Corruption of the database led me to ask the ISP to restore we::blog messages from backup.
They backed up the corrupted database!
And somehow deleted the working database...
Then the ISP told me danchan.com was WAY over CPU allocation because of all the we::blog users and that I'd get charged hundreds of dollars a month starting in July for the number of users that we::blog currently supported.
I was in the process of migrating over all the we::blog posts (corrupted, bleh) to my own server when my DSL router went out...
I ordered another DSL router on eBay, because my DSL ISP told me that was the fastest, cheapest way to get one...
My DSL router started working again intermittently!
So now we::blog is running again. The connection is sporadic, but hopefully the new DSL router, which comes later this week, will fix that. Also, since I'm using the corrupted database that my ISP backed up, there may be some problems...
Yeah! we:blog is back up!!
