Death, remorse, that is all that seems present. Why does one follow when all they need do is make a choice, if one is threatened they would die, then let be. Better to die than to fight a bitter fight of meaningless sorrows.
Or perhaps that is not what we are suppose to do in this pitiful life of misery, need I say more? I mean we eat, sleep, do what we are told. Can we do anymore, than follow the direction of where our society is leading us?

Zelf vind ik het erg belangrijk, dat de waanzin van oorlog steeds maar weer aan mensen getoond wordt. Wie weet helpt dat om...........oorlog te voorkomen.

Ieder leven heeft een begin, een midden en een eind, maar niet noodzakelijk in die volgorde…

Wie de geschiedenis kent, kent de wereld. Jubileum speelt zich af op een Joods kerkhof, waar de doden gedoemd zijn zich te herinneren wat ze liever willen vergeten. Fascisme is tijdloos. De wereld anno nu sluipt als een nachtbraker meedogenloos naar binnen. Want de dader keert altijd terug naar de plaats van het misdrijf. Hij zal net als zijn slachtoffers eeuwig blijven rondwaren.
Witz
Jubileum van de in Hongarije geboren schrijver George Tabori is een confronterende komedie over de gevolgen van de holocaust. Tabori verloor driekwart van zijn naaste verwanten in de gaskamers. De Witz is voor hem de noodzakelijke verbinding tussen Schmerz & Scherz. Lachen vindt hij niet bepaald frivool maar net zo’n existentiële activiteit als huilen. Het wezen van de Witz komt voort uit de erkenning van de catastrofe, om deze vervolgens met humor te lijf te gaan. Tabori voelt zich verwant met deze traditie, de lijn die loopt van Tucholsky, via Billy Wilder en de Marx Brothers naar Woody Allen.
Drang speelt het stuk bewust in mei, een maand van herdenking en bezinning. Het thema is actueel want de wereld heeft nog niets geleerd en oorlogen gaan door.
De individuele geschiedenissen van de personages in Jubileum vertellen hun eigen verhaal maar staan tegelijk voor een wereldbeeld.
Actueel
Jubileum zal worden gebracht in een eigentijdse enscenering waarin heden en verleden door elkaar heen lopen. De multiculturele cast bestaat uit een mix van oude rotten en jong talent waaronder Roelant Radier, Lucienne van Amelsfort, Eke van Bergen Henegouwen en Niels Cotterink.
Er zullen confrontaties zijn tussen een Palestijn en een Israëliet en genociden na de holocaust blijven niet onbesproken. Onder regie van Ton Theo Smit en Pauline Levick ontstaat een voorstelling waarin spel, dans en zang complementaire krachten zijn.
Beweging zegt vaak meer dan duizend woorden.
Locatie
Toneelgroep Drang speelt theater op locatie en zoals genoemd laat zij zich inspireren door het specifieke karakter van een gebouw. Waar Jubileum zal worden gespeeld is op dit moment echter nog een verrassing.

Do we make our own meaning to our lives? Are we sent here by another being to promote an ideal world without hate and desire? Or is it that hate and desire is our only survival upon this plain of space? Can we go as far as making an absolute meaning that all can follow? the richest country bombing one of the poorest. it isn't justified.
