yesterday, and the day before yesterday, I absolutely could not log into my weblog...it was very slow and when I did get my page to show up, it was like half of my page had been eaten away...thankfully, the server or whatever was wrong is working cos my page is fine and I didn't have to start looking for any cache....

I imported a variable from excel that was in a percent format. The variable created in SPSS has no format and when I try to change it to string or numeric, the message says I must have syntax to do this. I want it in a numeric format without the percent sign. How do I do this?

So what I will do is type them in my online diary once again, but one problem, the date generated automatically is of course wrong (mid july). Previously I never imagine about this kind of multi-functional thing. I never try to search for it. It is co-incidentally happened when the first I time used the Corpenic Agent to search materials for my research paper. It is a brilliant alternative to use rather than e-mail. It is a type of frequently updated online journal, often features excerpts from news articles and links to other web site. I try to link it to my personal page as an easy way to come across it anytime while I was updating the journal.
Web log also best know as a medium for communicating with the general public. For instance, here we can notice the open topic effectively discussed among people all over the world. It is a great transformation in our interaction with others in daily life.
In the corporate context, some chief executives, for better or worse, have adopted blogs as a way to share their personal wisdom with the wider world.
I fully utilize this kind of technology because it is efficient and knowledgeable. A few days incident which I lost part of my important journals is still haunting me until now. It is a nightmare and I got trouble to scrutinize what was wrong with it. I confess that I am not a good one in this technology but I often willing to know the latest software about computer. When this trouble comes out then I have nothing to do about it, I felt hopeless. In fact, I could not accept this kind of violence. Sadly, people who need to go through this thing currently are really disappointed when they notice the hinder.
Nowadays the computer system is incapable to be well protected. Hackers intended to test their power with manipulate others program as their experiment. Other party will uncomfortable with this situation and will attend alertly for all the times. It seems extremely difficult to overcome this problem but it should be affordable to solve.
AAHHHHHHGGG!

I signed up in June and now my weblog has disappeared (it was probably not present in the backup).
Now I tried to signup again as a new member, but when I want to create a weblog I get this message: FATAL ERROR :: Creation of new weblog cannot continue.
Is someone working on that?

About the loss of Posts
I had a lot of personal information and great stories posted in the past while and yes like everyone else, they are gone. But I would like to thank Danchan more then attack him.
When I saw my blog go down and I started to worry. My friend told me that the database might be corrupt and we would loose EVERYTHING. Luckily we didn't because Danchan backed up his database.
I would like to thank you Danchan for backing up the database instead of leaving it. Although a month and a half of posts are gone, at least it wasn't a year or more (as in some cases).
BEFORE YOU GO TO YOUR PAGE!
For you lucky ones who have Not gone to your page yet, do this:
- Go to "work offline" and select that [MAKE SURE IT IS WORKING OFFLINE]
- Go to history, or type in the link to June of your weblog.
Your page, hopefully, if the computer has cached it, will come up with your June weblogs [this also only works if you're a journal freak like me and check up on your month archives at times]

Please help me. I cant accept this. I have tried many times to follow your instruction to save the cache but it seemed really damn. I use this usefull web log avoid seeing many e-mail every day and for my online journal. I admit that it is really worth to me. Unfortunately, i am not good one in this technology and i am learning for it now. Hopefully you will help me to fine my latest journal even only for may 2003.

I found a backup from May 24. For those of you who are just finding out about this, we::blog's database was corrupted as of 1:00am this morning. All posts were replaced with the same post. I don't know how it happened. The thought that we::blog had been hacked did pass my mind but that really seems unlikely. Who would want to do that?
Anyway, I had found a backup from March and restored all messages till then. But I hadn't given up. I searched around on my drives and backup CDs and found another backup from May 24. So now instead of losing 4 months of posts, we've lost about a month and a half.
I apologized like a million times before, in posts that are now gone since restoring from the newer backup, but I'll do it again. I'm sorry for all the inconvenience. The best thing to do to save your posts is to search for your weblog on Google and copy off the cached version of your blog.
If you search on Google for:
title_of_blog month_name
Then find the page with the URL that looks like:
www.danchan.com/weblog/yourblog/2003/month
Click on the Cached link and copy off that page of posts so you don't lose your work. I've done this successfully for some of my personal blogs.
An example of a Google cached copy of we::blog:
http://216.239.37.104/search?q=cache:MASiU01FygoJ:www.danchan.com/weblog/+we+blog&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Find your pages on Google and copy off your posts! (File -> Save As)
If you've submitted your blog to Daypop you might also be able to find a cached copy there.
With the intermittent problems and the sometimes flaky line, it might be time to find a new weblog host. I'm sorry I can't guarantee the reliability of this service. :(
If you decide to keep using we::blog, it might be a good idea to copy off your archives every month, just in case.
