Presidential race too close to call in 3 states
CNN) -- A CNN/USA Today/Gallup telephone survey released Sunday indicates that voters in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Iowa are pretty evenly split on who they want in the White House, the economy, and the war in Iraq.
The three are among about a dozen states considered too close to call in the presidential contest. The list also includes Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Missouri, and Minnesota.
Registered voters polled in Wisconsin put Democrat John Kerry ahead of President George W. Bush -- 49 to 46 percent, but 50 percent of likely voters in the state said they would vote for Bush versus 47 percent giving the nod to Kerry. The sampling error was plus-or-minus 5 percentage points in both categories.
In Pennsylvania, registered voters gave Kerry-Edwards a 5 percentage-point margin over Bush-Cheney -- 49 to 44 percent -- with a sampling error of plus-or-minus 4 points. Among likely voters polled in Pennsylvania, Bush and Cheney narrowly led Kerry and Edwards -- 48 to 47 percent -- with an error margin of plus-or-minus 5 percentage points.
Half of registered voters surveyed in Iowa said they would vote for the Kerry-Edwards ticket versus 44 percent who said they would vote for the Bush-Cheney ticket. Pollsters said the margin of sampling error was plus-or-minus 4 percentage points.
Likely voters polled in Iowa gave Kerry-Edwards 51 percent of the vote and Bush-Cheney 46 percent, with a plus-or-minus 5 percentage point margin of error.
Registered voters and likely voters polled in those states were nearly evenly split on other issues as well. Thirty-nine percent of likely voters and of registered voters in iIowa rated their state's economy as "good."
Thirty-six percent of Pennsylvania's likely voters said their state's economy was "good" -- just two percentage points ahead of what Pennsylvania's registered voters told pollsters.
Likely voters polled in Wisconsin also edged out registered voters in their optimism about the state's economy. Forty-three percent said the economy was "good," while 41 percent of registered voters agreed.
The question of whether the United States erred in sending troops to Iraq also drew a fairly even split.
Forty-six percent of Wisconsin's registered voters said the U.S. should not have sent troops to Iraq and 45 percent of likely voters agreed.
Fifty percent of Pennsylvania's registered voters and 47 percent of likely voters said it was a mistake.
Forty-six percent of likely voters in Iowa answered "yes" to that question as did 45 percent of registered voters there.

bird flu
tadi budak cina kat ofis aku baca kuat-kuat headline salah satu suratkabar singapore. "IMPORT BAN ON MALAYSIAN POULTRY AND EGGS. Malaysians say singaporean are too jumpy over bird flu case. Singaporeans say, better be kiasu than sorry". pastu dia ketawa. aku diam jer dengar. malas nak layan. dia tau aku malaysian sebab tu dia baca kuat-kuat. pastu aku dapat kesempatan baca full story. memang betul singapore dah start ban tu pagi tadi. sejak berlaku kejadian 2 bird flu case kat satu kampung kat kelantan berdekatan dengan sempadan thailand. tapi wartawan ni motifnya macam nak memperbesarkan isu perdebatan antara malaysian and singaporean. jadi nanti orang singapore akan ingat kita ni marahla sebab diorang tak import ayam kita lagi. sengaja nak besarkan isu yang tak seberapa tu. padahal orang malaysia yang komen pasal singaporean too kiasu tu cuma sorang dua ja peniaga ayam. pastu diorang tunjuk gambar satu tauke ayam kat kl dok tunggu pelanggan dengan boringnya dan menulis "where are all the customer?" aku tak nak komen pasal ban tu sume sebab singapore has the right to do this. walaupun singapore is the biggest export market for poultry which is about 180million/year tapi this is our bad time yang kita kena terima. sekarang diorang nak import ayam new zealand and australia and of course ianya lebih mahalla. kalau tak halal alamat tak makan ayamla la aku. tapi the point here ialah aku geram sebab reporter yang tulis pasal ni sengaja nak mengejek-ngejek kita dengan kejadian ini. kenapa mesti besarkan statement orang malaysia kata orang singapore kiasu? kita kan sama-sama berjiran. kat singapore byk orang malaysia, begitu juga sebaliknya...kan tak best klu dok perli2 each other. wartawan tu memang mengada-ngada. macam nak merenggangkan silaturrahim. kenapa mesti letakkan komen seorang warganegara malaysia yang berkata "singaporean terlalu cepat melatah dan melompat walaupun terhadap sesuatu isu kecil" mestilah orang singapore marah dan akan kata kita ni sour grape sebab depa tak ambik ayam kita lagi. dia nak tulis pasal isu ayam ka atau apa? About bird flu: 1. bird flu or avian influenza, is a highly contagious disease that affects mainly poultry like chickens, duckes and geese. 2. The Singapore Gov. Bird Flu website (www.birdflu.gov.sg) says you can only catch the bird flu virus if an infected chicken coughs or sneezes directly into your face, or if you breathe in particles from it's droppings. 3. There is no evidence that you can get bird flu by eating well-cooked chicken, eggs or oher poultry products. 4. There is no evidence of human to human transmission

Kerry And Lobbyists:
Kerry Has Raised More From Lobbyists Than Any Senator Over Last 15 Years. "Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), who has made a fight against corporate special interests a centerpiece of his front-running campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, has raised more money from paid lobbyists than any other senator over the past 15 years, federal records show. Kerry, a 19-year veteran of the Senate who fought and won four expensive political campaigns, has received nearly $640,000 from lobbyists, many representing telecommunications and financial companies with business before his committee, according to Federal Election Commission data compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. For his presidential race, Kerry has raised more than $225,000 from lobbyists, better than twice as much as his nearest Democratic rival." CNN article
"The world's safer. ... Libya's no longer a threat. Pakistan is an ally in the war on terror," Bush said in an exclusive interview on CNN's "Larry King Live."
"There are 50 million people that once lived in tyranny now living in societies which are heading toward democracies," he said.
Bush also promoted improvements at home.
"The economy is growing. We've overcome a recession and corporate scandals, a stock market decline and an attack," he said. "And yet we've recovered and our economy is getting better. The education system is getting better because of the No Child Left Behind Act. The Medicare law has been strengthened so seniors will have prescription drug coverage starting in 2006."
The president also said he would still choose to go to war in Iraq if he had it to do sall over again -- even knowing everything he now knows about the absence of stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction.
"I will argue that Saddam Hussein out of power has made the world a better place and a safer place," he said. "We thought we'd find stockpiles. The whole world thought we'd find stockpiles. ... But what we do know is Saddam Hussein had the capability of making weapons of mass destruction, and after September 11th, a risk we could not take was that he would share that capability with our enemies."
Bush, who was joined for the interview by his wife, Laura, also took issue with a proposal by Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry to set a six-month time frame to begin reducing the number of U.S. troops in Iraq.
"That says to the enemy, 'Wait for six months and one day,' or it says to the Iraqis, 'The Americans aren't serious,'" Bush said. "The timetable is this -- not one day more than is necessary, and the commanders on the ground will let us know when."
