tiga minggu lepas, aku belajar main lagu ni. mula-mula bila cikgu aku kata nak ajar aku main lagu harlem yu. aku macam tercengang sikit sebab harlem yu? sape harlem yu????
rupa-rupanya harlem yu tu pencipta dan penyanyi lagu tema drama Meteor Garden yg pernah meletup sekejap kat malaysia ni. ramai yg gilakan kumpulan F4 dari taiwan tu termasuklah roommate aku zal. aku taklah minat sangat ngan boy band cam tu.
tapi bila dengar lagu tu, memang bestlah pada pendengaran telinga aku. tapi bila main aduh! susah banget. kiranya tempo dan melody tu dah ada cuma aku punya plucking dgn tapping tu lambat tak selari dengan pertukaran chord aku. aku memang tension kalau lagu banyak plucking ni. boleh nak strumming kalau main lagu ni tapi tak mencabar. bunyi dia pun lebih sedap plucking. dah ler aku ni pulak pemalas nak praktis.
bila tengok linda, pelajar akademi fantasia nyanyi lagu sambil petik gitar dia, aku rasa macam wah! bestnyalah budak ni. sebab aku kalau start strumming country style atau plucking aku mesti tak leh nak nyanyi. tapi kalau aku main down strumming, boleh pulak nak nyanyi sikit2.
lepas tu aku tengok linda tu plucking pakai dua jari je, ibu jari dgn jari telunjuk dia. kau tau kalau orang main stail-stail camtu, dia orang tu self-taught punyalah. lagilah aku respek. mesti dia tak ambik peduli pun nak main stail PIMA ke apa ke cam aku ni. kalau PIMA, masa plucking tu kena guna empat-empat jari kecuali jari kelingking.
kata zal, tak bolehlah nak rigid sgt macam cikgu yg selalu marah kalau salah guna jari. asal ada melodi dgn tempo cukuplah. entahlah mungkin betul kata dia tu. tapi aku suka cara aku yg aku belajar sekarang ni. at least aku tahu basic yg betul, lepas tu barulah berani nak eksperimen-eksperimen sikit.
cuma yg aku tension sekarang ni nak tune gitar. dah berapa banyak kali tali gitar aku putus masa mula2 nak belajar tune tu. sekarang ni boleh lah tune sikit2 tapi takdelah dapat tune tepat sangat. aim aku nak beli tuner tu pun belum kesampaian lagi. nantilah. kalau ada tuner, senang sikit. ikut jer indicator tu tak payah susah2.
dua minggu lepas, cikgu aku ajar main lagu nirvana - about a girl. itu memang salah satu lagu kegemaran aku. ingat lagi masa mula-mula dengar, aku berangan nak main gitar lagu ni. tak sangka lak akhirnya dapat main. entahlah mungkin aku beranggapan bahawa mesti susah nak main lagu ni, jadi bila cikgu aku ajar hari tu. lah senangnya, simple chords, cuma intro E dgn G tu cara strumm dia lain sikit. dulu aku ada masalah dgn bar chord tapi sekarang dah ok sikitlah. setakat C#, G# dgn F# tu, dah boleh handlelah. lepas tu tiap2 hari asyik nak main lagu ni aje. gila.
hari ahad hari tu tak keluar rumah langsung. daripada pagi sampai malam asyik dok jamming lagu ni jer. zal pulak tengah gila main lagu rozana. dia ada kawan jamming dia. budak tu yg ajar dia main lagu2 rock kapak ni. aku sebenarnya rindu nak dengar dia main lagu2 klasikal yg dia belajar tu tapi dia gila nak main akustik plak sekarang ni.
sekarang cikgu aku dah start bagi dua lagu serentak untuk praktis. hari tu kat kelas dia ajar lagu about a girl tu tapi dia bagi chord satu lagi lagu untuk aku cari sendiri tempo dgn melodi. lagu knocking on heaven's door. dia tak cakap pun version yg mana. jadi aku ambik jalan selamat, buat version avril lavigne, slow sikit. hehehe...tapi chord dia punyalah senang. tiga chord jer. main ulang2. tak mencabar langsung. tunggulah hari sabtu ni camna verdictnya. susah nak puaskan hati cikgu aku tu.
p/s: harap-harap janganlah portugal masuk final kalau tak aku kena belanja dia. arghh!!!!!budus punya itali.

My two cents
saying i was not the best company this past few days was to put it mildly. i was such a bear whenever somebody mentioned italy. yeah! friends and foes were having the time of their life needling me as much as they could. siottt!
strangely enough, i didnt shed a single tear when italy made their exit after failing to qualify for the quarter final. i'm very disappointed yes and resigned to the fact that the azzurri was no longer one of the best teams in the world/ in any major tournament.
i am not going to analyze the azzurri's final match simply because they sucks big time. apart from cassano and zambrotta, the rest of the team looked bloody rusty.
this time the dramatic exit from the euro 2004 was nobody's fault but their own. the whole squad to be specific. i could never believe that the "squaddra italia" had reached a point where they were forced to put their fate at the mercy of other teams.
in this context, yes the coach trapattoni was the main man to be blamed. the fact that he practised favouritism in the team had so much destroyed the camaraderie between players. the choice of players in his squad was basically based on who he favoured than who was the best.
the azzurri has no one to blame but themselves. they should have won against denmark and sweden. their below par performance against bulgaria proved how low their morale was compared to euro 2000, during the semi-final against holland where zambrotta received a red card. you could see how the ten-men italians regrouped and co-operated with each other to defeat holland.
yes, i confessed, my blind loyalty to players such as del piero, nesta and cannavaro made me fail to see their shortcomings. as for del piero, the whole azzurri fans had been waiting for him to perform a magical skill that could help italy win in any tournament much like roberto baggio. unfortunately, it didnt materialise. his misses were too many to be ignored even by his loyal fans. for all his skills, he was a failure with the national team.
the dynamic duo was no more. the partnership of nesta and cannavaro in the centre of italian’s defense was also failed to impress. i had just suddenly realised that it was maldini who kept the back four strong and sturdy. not just skill but his commanding presence.
nesta for all his elegant defense skill could not do it alone. as the italian team is famously known for their tight defense, what is left for them to be proud of with the lack of great defensive players after nesta and cannavaro? when did they stop producing great defenders?
at a time like this, i had to swallow my word where matterazzi was concerned. i forgot that he was such a menace, a stupid one at that. i forgot his penchant for shirt tugging and rough tackles. he had once kicked shevchenko’s stomach and everywhere he could reach during one of the milan derbies.
apart from pirlo, the azzurri has no other great midfielders. zanetti, camoranesi, perotta and fiore are just fillers. they are good but not exceptional. gattuso at least made up for his lack of skill by chasing the ball tirelessly on the field from one end to the other. he is definitely a ball-winner.
totti, hah! what a disgrace! i didnt even want to mention his name.
again, i wonder whether the feud between inzaghi and his former best friend, vieri was the reason he was dropped from the squad in the first place. it's more weird than the stupid conspiracy theories. i mean inzaghi scored four goals in a single match during the qualification round. inzaghi had also almost single-handedly helped the italian team qualify for the final euro, wherelse vieri's was dip in form almost the whole season.
trap gave all of us a lame reason about inzaghi not being able to recover from his ankle injury when inzaghi himself said he was fully recovered right before the euro started. trap had even promised inzaghi that he would bring the striker to lisbon. imagined if totti wasnt banned. cassano would probably spend the whole tournament on the bench waiting for a 10-minute chance to play before the final whistle. he's a revelation really. so different from the young cassano when he first made his debut with the romans. he had finally grown up but fate decided to play a cruel game with him.
alberto gilardino - the 24-year-old parma striker is the second highest scorer in the serie a last season. he is in top form, young and very-very fast but trapattoni didnt want to bring him. bloody coach! when every other coach couldnt wait to show off their young skillful players in this tournament, trap left the best young player he ever had at home.
conspiracy theories about game fixing between the all scandinavian teams as accused by the italians camp just made me ashamed for being their fan. god! why did they have to do that? dont be such sore losers.
accept the defeat with open heart and maybe it's time for the italian football federation to examine where did the italian team go wrong? and please dont give such stupid excuses, this time.
And what’s this I heard about trappattoni’s refusing to resign. He is an ass. Have some dignity and get the hell out of the figc lah. I don’t want to see you near the squaddra italia. Do a harakiri or something.
Yes, I will continue watching the euro until the finale. But being a neutral isn’t much fun. Well good luck to the remaining teams. If I were given a choice to choose the winner, I hope the czech republic will win.
As for the azzurri, I will wait for the olympic games to be able to watch the azzurri under-21 or the azzurrini play. Maybe, apart from gilardino, I will be able to scout some new talents. Hopefully, they will fare better than their seniors.
n/b: dania, it's been a long time since we did a live telecast like that. sms-ing each other like crazy. but it was fun though. it reminded me of nesta's lazio days.

aku dah janji hari ni tak nak cakap pasal bola. aku rasa macam nak tercekik bila teringat final game itali ni nanti. dia org semua pun dah warning aku jgn tutup handphone, yalah tu semua tgh tunggu nak belasah aku kalau itali kalah. siott!!hehehe...
suara aku pun dah setanding dgn itik serati, penangan menjerit selama seminggu. kata diy, kalau jerit jgn pakai tekak, kena dari perut. gila lu, ingat ni akademi fantasia ker???? sheesh!
aku nak cakap pasal muzik pulaklah. jumaat maghin, baru aku perasan festival muzik yg aku nak tengok tu rupanya buat hari isnin - 21 jun. hampeh betul! mangkuk ayun mana punya idea buat hari isnin tu aku pun tak taulah. tapi aku rasa dia org ni nak buat serentak satu dunia kot. siot mat salleh ni, ingat kehidupan ini revolves around dia org je ker.
tahun lepas masa aku dgn diy tengok fete de la musique ni, hujan lebat giler, last2 dia org stopkan dulu show. malas nak tunggu sampai malam, kita org pun blah. ingatkan this year bolehlah tengok lama2 sikit tapi hampeh.
aku dgn diy pergilah singgah sekejap semalam lepas kerja. penat dan mengantuk sebenarnya. diy lagi gila sebab dia tak tidur langsung dari ahad malam tu sampai isnin petang. dua2 otak dah jam dan semi-comatose tapi nak jugak pergi tengok fete tu. sebab tulah sesat dekat nak setengah jam. padahal dah selalu pergi.
bila sampai, kita org mula dari berjaya times square. tengok kat situ ada group budak-budak perempuan dari performing arts school tengah menari. alamak boringlah, kita org ke bukit bintang pulak. kat situ lagi tension, group orang tua tengah nyanyi koir. mungkin kalau hari dan masa yang lain, aku bolehlah terima but not last night.
tanya kat crew, dia org kata 'main stage' kat changkat. aku dengar hah! jauhnya nak menapak lagi dah ler lapar. jadah! nasib baik gua pakai sandal je.
sampai2 dia org tengah launched the event. lepas tu adalah pelbagai tarian asli yg dipersembahkan kat stage. aku dah pening2 lalat dah. pinjam kamera digital diy, aku pun snap ler apa2 gambar kat situ. tensionnya, kamera digital tu zaman tok kadok yg pakai disket tu. dah ler berat gila, lembap betul kamera tu nak rakamkan gambar.
tapi terubat jugaklah hati bila tengok persembahan brass band yg menarik, siap menari lagi budak2 tu. capoeira dance pun ada, best jugak tariannya dan budak2 tu pandailah handle tarian tu. macam nak join jer rasanya. hehehe...

malam tadi panas macam apa, aku dah tak selesa rasa belengas sangat. hati pulak berbelah bahagi nak balik, tak balik. bila dah rasa macam nak balik, muncul pulak satu group yg datang dari johor kat atas pentas tu. bawak tong dram, didgeridoo, gitar, keyboard dan tabla. aku pun excited gilalah. aku suka sangat dgn bunyi didgeridoo, alat muzik orang asli australia. bunyi dia buat aku terbayangkan landscape kat australia tu.
sekarang ni didgeridoo banyak group underground pakai termasuklah koffin kanser. malam tadi bebudak tu memang kreatif. kombinasi alat2 muzik dia orang campur pulak dgn muzik reggae, teruja aku dibuatnya. tapi dia orang main dua lagu jer, tu pun aku dah puas hati.
lepas show dia org, tiba pulak giliran wakil french embassy. alamak, dia org nyanyi opera, menyesakkan kepala otak aku, diy pun ajak blah. kita orang turun balik ke bukit bintang, sheesh! choir lagi ker? pegi kat stage sebelah, ada band tengah prepare nak buat show dia org. tapi nak tune guitar dia pun ambik masa berjam2, kita org pun blah. sebenarnya, dah penat, tu yg sakit hati tengok semua benda tu.
kita org pusing balik ke berjaya times square, nak tengok apa lagi yang ada sebelum kita org betul2 balik rumah. oklah persembahan satu band tu. muzik dia orang very2 interesting dan yang pentingnya original. tapi by this time, kita orang dah nak nyawa2 ikan. dengar satu lagu jer kita orang pun balik, tapi sempat gak la ambil gambar dia orang.
aku wish sangat tahun depan dia orang buat event ni hujung mingu. pergi pun tak boleh nak enjoy the music pun tak guna jugak. dah ler clash dgn bulan euro. argh!!tempat jauh-jauh pulak tu. kita orang balik masa tu dah pukul 10 lebih, aku rasa bila dah dekat pukul 12 malam, show dia orang mesti makin best. takpe! next year ok! aku pun akan join sekali. ceh! berangan. main plucking dgn tapping pun sangkut-sangkut lagi.
bila dah dekat nak sampai rumah, dua-dua rasa lapar, jadi singgah kat pantai hill park beli chicken chop kat restoran mama chop papa grill. lazatnya, mash potato dgn gravy resipi tersendiri.
sampai rumah, diy kata dia tak tahan ngantuk dan dia nak terus tidur. dia kata nak makan masa tengok bola nanti. ok jugak tu. last2 aku masuk peti ais sebab tak tahan ngantuk masa tengok bola. hari ni baru nak makan. hehehe...

sunday - 2.45 am
cassano despite his mafia's background was really a whiz kid on the field, he managed to control his temper and played brilliantly. it's been a long time since i last saw del piero played like that. invisibled during the denmark's game, he had shown why he is considered among the best playmakers in the world. if only trap wont be so rigid and put him up there with cassano and vieri. he should play behind those two where he could create more beautiful assists.
pirlo as expected did help changed the game into a flowing agressive football and dominating midfield.
the minute trapattoni took out cassano, i knew the game was going downhill. well, let's give him the benefit of the doubt. i can understand that trap substituted cassano because he already had one yellow card. fine! i can understand that he substituted del piero because the guy looked really tired. i can understand that trap took out gattuso because he already had two yellow cards and sufferred from cramp. fine!
but why the bloody hell did you bring in favalli instead of the young materrazzi with a physical to match the tall zlatan to defend your goalie? why didnt you substitute vieri who was bloody useless for the more creative and fit marco di vaio. why the hell did u bring him to portugal for eh? you fool!!!
you had like eight defenders by the time zlatan scored at the 84th minute. why man! why did u suddenly panic and turned cautious by bringing in all the defenders that you have in the squad. you know azzurri had proved that night how great they are at playing possession football. it's sort of like watching milan at its best.
didnt u remember euro2000. the catenaccio was no longer the "in" thing babe. you dared asked your players to defend the 1-0 lead as if you didnt know that anything could happen in football. bloody stupidlah. when you played defensively like that and had a siput babi for a striker a.k.a. vieri, everything would backfire man! your decision to play defensively in the second half just made the azzurri's penalty area more enticing to the sweedes. you gave them chance to pounce and pounce until they produced a result and they did. man! how they did!
to buffon, with a crowd like that in your penalty area, you shouldnt have moved forward. you'd get confused. let your defenders do their job man! nesta, you'd made a few uncharacteristic mistakes in the first half that were costly. lucky you had strong backups like panucci and cannavaro.
why did the azzurri always have to be so dramatic and keep their fans hanging in the balance?? why am i a supporter of the azzurri? why??why??? sheesh! i am sounding pathetic!
The azzurri qualify if they beat Bulgaria and:
1. either denmark or sweden win 2. denmark and sweden draw 0-0 3. denmark and sweden draw 1-1 and italy beat bulgaria by two clear goals
Italy will fail to qualify if : 1. italy fail to beat bulgaria 2. denmark and sweden draw 2-2 or more.
* taken from channel 4
tapi kalau denmark dgn sweden kowtim sesama diaorg tak nak bagi italy masuk, habislah italy. uwaaaaaa!!!!!!!

well, it looks like Mr Francessco Totti has finally become a legend in this tournament. he has his name linked to the like of Frank Rijkard and Rudi Voeller, but of course as always for the wrong reason. as both voeller and rijkard was infamously known for involving in a spitting contest during the world cup. at least rijkard said he spat at voeller because of the latter's racist remark.
what kind of excused did totti has? spitting at poulsen because he was doing his job stopping you, you stupid brat. God! i saw the footage in the danish's website and it wasnt pretty. i wish you were not wearing the azzurri's shirt when you were doing that. totti didnt learn from his past mistake and was terribly immature and irresponsibled.
3-match ban means he wont be able to play sweden and bulgaria, oh good for you totti and the third game will go up in smoke if italy doesnt win the two games first.
however, like i said in the forum yesterday, maybe his ban was a good omen for the azzurri at least. now that trap wont focus so much on totti, perhaps he will be able to utilise all the great individuals that he has in his team.
maybe he'll play 4-4-2, or 4-3-3 but please no 4-3-2-1. i hope he'll use pirlo to at least generate the ball movement from the back cause pirlo can really cross man.
germany-holland. a fascinating game between flashy orange and no-nonsense germans. frings goal was absurd to say the least but nonetheless a beautiful one. he is so much better now compared to wc2002. the thing about germany is they play simple football but a very interesting one. i'll say that ballack really proved how great a midfielder he was. he played deep and created lots of beautiful chances for the strikers. even though he didnt do well with bayern this season he proved his worth with the national team. he reminded me of the germany's libero maestro - Lothar Matthaus. and what a surprised from the young striker kevin kuranyi. he got height, he got pace and he was born in brazil. a perfect striker. hehehe...
and Bastian Schweinsteiger, the 19-year-old winger, captured my attention with his skill. he is fast, tough and played intelligently. i like this german team very much. they still have metzelder and klose up their sleeves. hmmm!
holland, well, they are like a factory. endless supply of skillful individuals. sadly though, the team can no longer boast of playing total football. despite a team fill with talented players, their style of play didnt impress me much. let's wait for their second game.
czech republic - with milan baros, nedved, poborsky, rosicky and koller in the team, enough said. this is one team that is really hungry for success. i remembered watching the final euro 1996. at that time the heroes were poborsky and berger. thrilling game but germany got klinsmann and bierhoff in the team. poborsky went to man united and alex killed his future for being benched all the time and berger went to liverpool and succumbed to lots of injury. pity both of them.
hey what did i tell you about greece. their match against portugal was no fluke. they really are a great team. a team to watch and spain could testify to that.
i want to write more but my brain refused to work any longer. i really need to sleep. i may ponteng my guitar class tomorrow. besides, i have yet to master the song that my teacher gave me last week. the thing was i didnt practise at all. too tired and lots of games to watch.
forza azzurri! per sempre...

i've got a really bad fever and i am afraid it will last until early July. there's no cure and for the rest of the month, i'll look like a zombie. yeah! i've definitely caught the Euro2004 fever.
my mom hated it. her favourite word for my condition was "menang sorak, kampung tergadai". i was still living at home during euro 2000 and she had to suffer through all my screamings and rantings at 5 am for the whole month. sorry mom, i couldnt help it. football is simply in my blood and i really love to watch the game.
i received lots of calls and sms from friends, former bosses and former colleagues during this time. these people who called me only once in four years so that they can either support me or torment me. well, at least they remember me, a woman who is so passionate about football, she managed to influence a china man who was into heavy betting to support italy instead of brazil during the world cup 94. he lost his money and was so mad at me. i was like, who told you to listen to me. i was no professional football pundit and i was only 19 at the timelah. stupido!
as for euro 2004, i've been watching five games out of six and all of them were simply exhilarating esp the portugal's opening game and of course england vs france.
normally football fans are more into offensive play but i have always been fascinated with the team's defensive skill since i discovered franco baresi.
though i support neither england nor france, i am quite impressed with england's defense. i guess that's sven goran's doing since he'd spent many years in serie a. the way the english players closed down their penalty area killed the creativity of such strikers like henry and trezeguet. not bad! and i thanked france for beating england simply because i couldnt stand beckham. so much hype about him but it was zidane who came on top. good for you zidane!
the greeks was an underdog no more. hehehe...what did u expect when they got a german national for a coach. a very discipline and organised defense really made a difference. they played intelligently and gave an accurate game reading. it was fascinating to watch. though greece didnt impress many football pundit, serbegeth "shebby" singh included, i still think they got a real potential to be one of the best in this tournament.
spain was lucky they got valeron at the right time and at the right place. he scored for spain and he's a midfielder. valeron's talent though not flashy, is very consistent and subtle. the raul and morientes combination fall flat maybe because they were separated for one whole season and had yet to click.
sweden was simply superb. larsson, ibrahimovic and ljunberg are big names in european league. sweden is an example of a team with a perfect offensive style. i've been following both larsson and ibrahimovic's games closely for a few years now and they both have become better and better over the years. ibrahimovic for all his eccentricity, has matured enough to do what he did in last night's game. he had unselfishly pass the ball to the more senior ljunberg for a shot on goal and ljunberg scored like he always did at that angle. not bad for a kid who snatched a ball from his own teammate because he wanted to take the penalty kick himself. larsson himself is a phenomenon, enough said.
(With a heavy sigh!) now the azzurri, my favourite team, the only international team i support since World Cup 1990 where i first discovered another phenomenon called Roberto Baggio and the defender Paolo Maldini. and the azzurri have given me nothing but heartache ever since. sheesh! no win at all in both world cup and euro. damnation!
4-2-3-1 formation, what the hell was trapattoni thinking. the stupid conservative italian coach that had done more blunders than any other coach. i want dino zoff!!!!!!
some would say last night's game was boring. i've never heard the word italian games utterred without boring attached to it. at first glance it look boring but somehow it was not. the italians have lots of talented individuals but the coach failed to manipulate all those talent and made them one.
for the life of me, i couldnt understand why trapattoni put zanetti and perotta in the first eleven. those two were bloody uselesslah. budus punya coach. dont u have eyes??? i hoped u choked on that holy waters that u've always brought with you.
my God! why cant you play gattuso and pirlo in the first eleven. this is not about milan or inter or juventus. this is about national team and skillful individuals. zanetti and perotta are perhaps good players but good is not enough in football. you got to have the best in the team. why didn't you start with cassano in the first place? with your stupid formation, u have pushed totti and del piero to play deep. and why the hell did u take out camoranesi. and why vieri?? he is not creative, he did not think when he plays, he is a dumbo. he doesnt have the speed and he is a bad poacher. i want inzaghi!!!
i have never heard of a coach who praised only one individual from a whole team like you did Totti, you stupid old man! this is not about individual, it's about team spirit and solidarity. except for the back fours, italy's midfields and forwards didnt show any solidarity last night. they look like they havent played with each other before.
the only highlight of the game was the italian defense and the two goalkeepers. i have to admit if not for both world class goalies, a goal or two would have been produced from either side. buffon and sorensen were really terrific. and alessandro nesta, the finest talent in the heart of italian defense really delivered last night. he did lots of clearances, his tight marking and accurate reading of the opponent's movement, his speed and sliding tackle, need i go on and on and on about his talent, i dont think so. he is definitely in a class of his own.
italy was lucky because denmark was no sweden. they didn't have anybody spectacular in the team unlike the laudrup brothers during the early 90s. Italy was lucky gronkjaer couldn’t play and italy was lucky because helveg, laursen and tomasson played in the serie a and the italians defense at least knew what to expect from them.
Maybe there was hope yet for azzurri. they always was a slow starter but somehow I don’t think they will go far in this tournament. yeah! another heartache. trapattoni didnt learned from the mistake he did during the world cup 2002. if the players failed to advance, they only have their bloody coach to blame. sorry monsignor trap, unlike the world cup 2002, there is no ecuadorian referee here to blame.
forza azzurri! forza nesta!

i can't wait to watch all the films and hopefully, i get to watch all of them. i missed last week's french film festival because of the busy schedules and whatnot.
unfortunately, they are not going to show the Nobody Knows film. i so wanted to watch it and check out the young actor who managed to beat Tony Leung Chiu Wai. hehehe...
plan to watch Pontianak tonight if it's still available that is and there's Harry Potter too. with a director like Alfonso Cuaron, i dont want to miss the third potter's film.
remember Cuaron's film Y Tu Mama Tambien?? though to me some shots were really unnecessary and a bit vulgar, it's the read between the line style that provoked the mind and fascinated me so much. but that was latino for u, great exhibitionists.

and the star, gael garcia bernal, wallau! good enough to eat, so to speak. dah ler handsome, young, smart and all his movies are mostly laden with great messages about his society.
so far i've watched three of his films, Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien and Fidel (he plays che guevara in the film, yeay!).
now i have to wait for another two of his latest films - La Mala Educacion directed by Pedro Almovar. he plays three characters in it and The Motorcycles Diaries directed by Walter Salles. he's the director of critically-acclaimed films such as City of God, Behind the Sun and Central Station (bought but have yet to watch).
i wanted to buy the Motorcycle Diaries book two years ago at the Kinokuniya but RM65 for such a thin book, i dont think so. i know the gist anyway about che guevara's road trip but now i can watch the movie.
the trouble is where to find the dvds? petaling street doesnt sell foreign or any indies dvd. my favourite dvd shop in Uptown have some of the best selections of foreign films but they are very unpredictable. maybe we'll try our luck at the Ampang Point this weekend.

ini adalah antara event yg paling aku tunggu sangat-sangat setiap tahun. ini boleh kira Woodstock, stail aku. 12-hour non-stop musical performance. best giler. last year aku pergi tapi hujan lebat masa tu dapat tengok tiga empat performance jer. ada yg best ada yg tak best tapi aku enjoy tengok org main musik macam some sort of gig.
"In the true spirit of Fête de la Musique ie where music is played anywhere everywhere, musicians are expected to perform at multiple performance spots on sidewalks, shopping complexes, restaurants, pubs, etc. Hence, unplugged performances are encouraged."
masa tu aku ada cakap kat diy, maybe one day kita pun boleh enter this fete, setakat main gitar tu bolehlah kan. free music, apa2 jenis music pun boleh dengar masa event ni. sapa2 pun boleh masuk. tu yg best tu. music is part of a freedom of expression jugak kan!
so, tunggulah 21 jun, aku akan ke sana walaupun hanya sebagai penonton. skil gitar aku belum cukup bagus lagi utk perform in front of the crowd. maybe next year, who knows!
Launched in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique or Feast of Music has become an international event. Every year it is celebrated in more than 110 countries worldwide on 21st June, which corresponds to the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.
On this day, from sunset till sunrise, musicians take over the streets and play to their heart's content from sunset till sunrise. Musicians of all genres, be they amateurs or professionals, are invited to perform voluntarily. Musicians do not pay to take part, nor is the public expected to pay to watch.
Fête de la Musique is not just for musicians, it is a festival of music that is enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
It has been said that in France, in one year alone, more than 800,000 musicians (both amateurs and professionals) from different parts of the world participated in more than 10,000 concerts. Also it has estimated that 10 to 12 million spectators from various countries in Europe actually made their way to France to witness this event.
In 1996 Fête de la Musique was introduced in Malaysia by Alliance Francaise. This was organised as a private annual event for the organisation. In 2002, HELP entered the picture.
the last time i went to the pwtc book fair was in 1997. i was doing my practical at that time. i had to go everyday for the whole week to check out any interesting event or books to write about. those editors could be cruel sometimes. ;-)
i haven't gone to any of the pwtc book fairs ever since. so last saturday was special, maybe because after so many years i decided to return to the scene. the book fair was really impressive compared to the previous event, that much i can tell you.
and contrary to the popular belief, malaysians do love to read, just look at the saturday morning crowd. since the parking was full, i decided to park at the Mall. my purpose of going to the book fair was to visit the Pay Less booth. That's my favourite book shop. I dont mind buying second-hand books as long as they're good. Pay Less sometimes have rare editions that i'd love to read. And the most important thing is they sell them cheap. yeah!
well, the first booth that really caught my eyes and diy was the one was the one which sold all kind of art books and of course authors like Baha Zain and Pramoedya. however, they were too expensive. i really love the self expression art book where the artiste painted the way they see themselves. I love the way jailani abu hassan portrayed himself in the book. Such a prolific artiste he is. I saw the baha zain book about “kisah2 binatang”. A very fascinating book of short stories.
I once went to see Syed Hussein Al-Attas to ask for a job. He told me to go back and write a story about a group of animals living in a Malaysian jungle as he liked to call it.. he told me to write about the animal community, about their behaviour and about their conversation. What would a pig say to an elephant if they came across each other in the jungle, stuff like that. I went back but never wrote the story. Hehehe…Such a chronic lazybum I was back then.
I saw khalil gibran’s book at the indonesian booth and it’s quite interesting but again very expensive. On to the 4th floor, I came across a book called the T-Shirt book. It’s cool writing about the history of t-shirts. T-shirt used as a freedom of expression, t-shirt with icons on it and one of the most popular was Che Guevara’s shirt. If not for the cold stare I received from the owner, I would have continued reading the book. Hahaha…
And then, came the Pay Less booth. I was so disappointed with the booth. My expression was like “lei, ini jer! enough said. I thought I might just try my luck and asked for the stephen king’s IT but the answer was fruitless so to speak. I don’t know whether I will be able find a copy of IT in this life time anymore. It’s so difficult to get. I mean I can easily buy the other stephen king’s classic like christine or carrie but not IT. sheesh!
In the end, I ended up buying 4 volumes of readers digest’s best collection for only RM20. What a bargain man!. One volume consisted of three or four novels and that means I can read 16 novels for just RM20. The authors included Mary Higgins Clark and Tom Clancy to name a few. Cool man! Zal bought two volumes while diy bought Prozac Nation for only RM12. Sheesh! I love Pay Less.
My book fair adventure ended at the Pay Less and I wanted to leave early so that I could go to class but we’re stuck at the pwtc because of the heavy rain. But I went anyway because I couldn’t afford to miss the class. Lucky the other students didn’t turn up.
This time I learned to play a chinese song entitled “Love everything about you”. It’s a Beyond’s song, a rock group from hong kong which was so popular in asia during the 80s and early 90s. the lead singer – Wong Ka Kui died falling from the stage while recording a game show in Japan. This was the fourth chinese song that I’d learned to play. All four are songs from beyond. Most of their songs were slow rock. It’s quite easy, the chord I mean and the only problem was I couldn’t sing along because I don’t know the words. Some songs I know the lyric like Amani, it’s a mixed of cantonese and swahili. Amani in swahili means Peace. I lent a dewa CD to my teacher so that he’d be exposed to the indonesian songs. Hehehe…
