Apple iMac G5
Apple users can rejoice as the iMac G5 looks like a very interesting design. It reminds me of the Sony design that we've seen from Japan. Although I'm not a Mac user, I must say that I envy the innovation there. The iPod and new iMac look like big winners.

Aiwa HZWS2000 MP3 player
Sony's second-brand, Aiwa has come up with an extremely small 1.5GB MP3 player. The HZ-WS2000 looks like some of Sony's MagicGate products in terms of looks (box factor in shiny metallic finish) and comes in several colors. Costing more than the mini-iPod though, I wonder if this device will find a captive audience. While I like the size, I just wish because it was Aiwa, Sony would offer the device at under US$150!

Sonos Home Music System
Sonos has created unique product that allows you to stream your digital music to every room in the house. You can place so called "ZonePlayers" anywhere in the house and it will stream music to that room. Best of all though, it comes witha very cool remote which looks more like a PDA/player in itself. Still, do I need digital music in every house? Maybe not, but I like the idea.

Another business trip -- iPaq 6300
Well I had another business trip so I've been away. I was on my way back from the airport admiring all the gadgets at one of the tech shops in Singapore when I saw the ad for the iPaq 6300. Quad-band GSM/PDA phone. Now I've been a big phone of Smartphones, but I've really only oned the Sony Ericsson P series which is more of a phone. I really like the Treo and would probably get it if they had they upgraded Treo 650 (rumor?) with the better screen. The only issue I can see is that the 6300 is HUGE. I mean, I don't think you'd carry that thing around, that's for sure.

Canon EOS 20D
Canon has upped the scales of digital SLR by introducing thier 8.2 Megapixel SLR upgrade, the 20D. The 20D replaces the 10D camera that was the direct competitor to my Nikon D100. In the whole Canon vs. Nikon, I'm a long-term Nikon fan so this probably isn't as appealing to me. But it is interesting because it pushes the envelope yet again and I'm wondering when Nikon will launch the next replacement to my D100.

Sony Ericsson Z1010
Sony Ericsson has released its 3G handset. The Z1010 was released at the end of last week but has so far been relatively quiet. I had the chance to see one up close today. While it remains me of the Z600, the problem with the Z1010 is that it's still very fat and wide. It's also a lot heavier than it looks which was pretty surprising. The real nail in the coffin though is that the Z1010 is only a dual-band GSM handset with W-CDMA. I want a tri-band GSM with WCDMA. Guess I'm waiting for the Nokia 3G handset.

New Bose and Plantronics headset
I decided to buy the new upgrade to the Bose Quiet Comfort series, the QuietComfort 2. It's a slightly smaller upgrade from version 1 but anyway, there's two of us in the house now so I can also give the older one to my significant other.
I did though see these funky little headphones from Plantronics (the MX100i). Although it says its meant for your PDA, I'm sure they will work with other electronic devices. They look really high-tech but I'm not sure what the little clips are for on the bottom of the phones. Let's hope they are ergonomic as well as they are cool looking.
Too bad not all earphones have noise cancelling technology. On flights nowadays, its an essential product to have. I just can't do without it anymore.

iPaq PDAs
I haven't been paying much attention to the PDA market for sometime. With my U70 purchase, I care about it even less! However, I went to the computer mall to get the case for the U70 and I saw the new iPaq rz1715. This entry model iPaq certainly does have a lot more appeal than many entry level models of the past. I'm pretty impressed at how much power and features these new models now have. The screen was also fairly impressive. HP is also introducing the HX4705 model, expected out in September. Looks like HP is still pushing the PDA envelope even though its popularity is probably waning.

Motorola Razr V3 Mobile Handset
Motorola's new handset, the RAZR V3, besides having a pretty cool name looks interesting. At first glance, it appears to be extremely thin, but we'll have to see one up close to really know. The screen looks vivid though I could not see the specs and it may just be a standard 65k color LCD. Looks interesting as a design. To get it that thin, it appears that Motorola may have put a good part of the electronics at the bottom, which looks like a fat base of some sort. I want to see one up close.

FMP3 - An MP3 player designed for cars...
This cool gadget from Japan is an MP3 player designed for the automobile. The FMP3 comes in two parts. The first is an attachment to your cigaratte lighter that has a USB port attached to it. You can set the frequency of the output to whatever FM channel you want. Next, you plug in a USB drive and you have your own MP3 player in the car. Best of all, you can just unplug the UBS drive and take that with you. Ok, not as cool as the iTrip, but hey, pretty neat invention.

Sony Navitus Remote Control NX7000
The new Universal remote control from Sony looks amazing. It's got a color LCD screen and is fully programmable. The Navitus NX7000 is clearly for the high end gadget freaks like me. It probably isn't easy to program and at US$700, not cheap. Still, if you want a cool high-end remote, this is probably one of the best ones available now other than the Pronto.

Sony A190 Laptop
Ok, I'm a huge fan of Sony and of course I think Hong Kong is on the cutting edge of technology. I just got back from a mini-break to the US and accidentally saw the A190. The A series laptops, are Sony's desktop replacement. I alwasy looked at it marginally, but never paid any attention to it because it was expensive and did not have the right specifications. BUT, that was before I found the A190. The A190 is Sony's massive Widescreen 17" laptop. The screen can support a whopping 1920x1200 and having seen one, its very nice. The A190 is a pretty new model, but that's not what annoys me... I'm annoyed because we don't even have a similar version here in Hong Kong. We still have the less than powerful 15" A-Series. So where is the new version? That's my question. Hello Sony! Let's just say I'm surprised that I could buy one in the US but not here.
