Rain Rain Go Away, Come Again in November

How banal to be reduced to writing about the weather, but here goes! It has positively sucked for the past month, rain off and on, then on and off, again and again and again. It has rained more, and harder, than I have ever experienced in my 44 years. Even local say it has been excessive, and I have to take an extra pair of socks (as opposed to pants when I go golfing, not that I ever do) in case I get the first pair soaked-socked...

Well, the good news is that even during 150 plus km/hour winds, I could not feel our residential tower budge, even a cm. The local housing authorities say that the average building can take three times the gale force with little problem, and I hope our building, which costs over a grand US a square foot, is a bit better than "average". They also postulate that because it can withstand such strong winds, it should be able to handle most earthquakes as well. Let us hope and pray this is the case!

The sewers are so saturated that I noticed the other day not a few drops had started to fall that the sewers were overflowing in Central, regurgitating their wet contents all over the pavement.

Funny, that is how I perceive how much of my time is spent waiting for elevators, waiting for them to spew....

Sorry for the bout of cynism, but it is rather fun to get it out of my system. Have a great weekend, and stay dry!!
